PRESENTATION

USE OF TRIGONOMERTY IN DAILY LIFE WITH

CATAPULT

Trigonometry & catapult in daily life…..

•Aim : To find out the dimensions of the building & pyramid and the angle of elevations with the help catapult.

MATERIALS REQUIRED

CARDBOARD SAND COLORS SHOE BOX TISSUE PAPERS STRAWS CLAY CRAFT PAPERS METALLIC PIN RUBBER BAND ALUMINUM FOIL

Step 1 :Take a shoe box & straws of 25cm to make a building & pyramid.

Step 2 :Make a two catapults parallel to each other placed on road.

Step 3 :With the help of catapult & ball made up of aluminum foil striking the top of the building & pyramid.

Step 4 :The distance between the building & pyramid is 44cm

IN ABC, B = 90.BC=30CM, AB= 25Cm ,AF=?

IN DEF, E= 90, DE = 25 CM, EF= 30 CM ,DC=?

BC = 30 CM

EF = 30 CM

BE = 44 CM

Step 5 : Now with the help of Pythagoras theorem, in ABC; AB² + BC² = AC²

AC²=

Step 6 : Now with the help of Pythagoras theorem, in DEF; DE² + EF² = DF²

1525 =

39.05…

With the help of logarithmic table , ø can be found out

• sin ø = opposite hypotenuse• sin ø = AB = sin

25 AC

39.05 • ø = 0.6402…• ø = 39 48

• sin ø = opposite hypotenuse• sin ø = DE = sin

25 DF

39.05• ø = 0.6402….• ø = 39 48The angles inclined at angle

C & angle F is 39 48 .

conclusions• From the above observation, the both

the angles are of equal angles i.e. 39 48

• We get the distance from the top of the tower & pyramid.

• A catapult is a device used to throw or hurl a projectile a great distance without the aid of explosive devices—particularly various types of ancient and medieval siege engines.
