Transmission Studies for New Long Term Network Resources
Doug PowellManager Technical System Planning
Entergy Services, Inc. September 11, 2006
Two options for designating new Long-Term Network Resources
1. Incremental: Customer requests designation of new generation in addition to existing Network Resources.
2. Delisting/displacement: Customer requests designation of new generation replacing existing Network Resources.
Incremental Study
• New resource will be studied in addition to customer’s existing Network Resources.
• All network service studies will be performed on an incremental basis, unless service request specifies otherwise.
Delisting/Displacement Study
• Delisting study evaluates a new generation resource as a long-term replacement for an existing Network Resource.
• Displacement study evaluates a new generation resource as a short-term substitution for an existing Network Resource.
Delisting/Displacement Studies
• Performed at Customer’s election.
• Customer provides list of Network Resources to de-list/displace or Entergy Transmission can provide the delisting/displacement options for Customer.
Batching of Requests
• Customer can elect to have all or a portion of its requests to designate new Network Resources “batched.”
• Transmission will perform all studies in the specified “batch” and release the completed System Impact Studies (“SIS”) at one time.
• Only requests that are in consecutive order in the SIS queue can be “batched.”
Under the ICT
• The ICT will administer the Operating Companies’ OASIS
• The ICT will sign the SIS Agreement with customer and perform the System Impact Study
• To the extent a Facility Study is necessary and requested, Entergy transmission will conduct the study, subject to the validation of the ICT.
