Introduction
The Soya Fast Food Restaurants is an innovative business concept that will put on market soya food
products ready for consumption. The soya restaurant will process soya bean grains, prepare and serve
cooked and fresh drinks and meals in-restaurant or for take away.
The Soya Fast Food Restaurants will use the MacDonald’s approach of fast food and franchising. The
motto is “Eat Different, Stay Healthy, and Be Happy”. Our vision is to create a soya fast food chain in
the urban cities of Rwanda. This year 2016, a pilot Soya Restaurant was open in Kigali with a goal of
establishing at least 10 Soya Restaurants in the urban areas: Kigali City (5), Huye (1), Muhanga (1)
Musanze (1) Rubavu (1) Nyamata (1) in the next five years through a franchise business process.
SISE Ltd is developing a financing and franchising road map with interested franchisees who will
establish further Soya Fast Food Restaurants.

The main soya ingredients are: soya milk and tofu directly processed from non GMO soya bean grains.
The meals to be served are: Tofu stew, Tofu Burgers, Tofu sambusa, Tofu Brochettes, Tofu Pizza, Soya
sausages-hotdogs, Soya Milk, Soy milk coffee, Soya yogurt, Soya smoothies, soya milk shakes, etc.

Partnership/joint venture: SISE Ltd is looking for entrepreneurs with an established restaurant where a
new menu of soya foods will be introduced. This restaurant should have a significant daily traffic of
customers of at least 200 people. In this joint venture, SISE Ltd will bring in the technology and
knowhow of soya foods by providing the soya equipment and training for making soya foods and
preparing soya recipes. The entrepreneur/restaurant owner will provide the space, personnel, furniture and
raw material for all operations of preparing and selling meals.
Goal: To attract more customers and double the traffic in a period of 12 months; and to serve at least 100
meals of soya foods every day by the end of first three months.
Technical assistance: SISE Ltd will transfer the knowhow on soya bean processing, manufacturing of
soya foods and preparation of soya recipes through training and quality control
Branding: SISE Ltd will provide registered brand names or trademarks for the restaurant and recipes.
The brand name mark will give exclusive proprietary rights to SISE Ltd.
The registered brand name is SOYES! FOODS; also single recipes as: Soyes! Brochettes, Soyes! Burger,
Soyes! Steak, Soyes! Pizza, Soyes! Sausages, Soyes! Mango, Soyes! Banana, Soyes! Soyes! Papaya,
Soyes! Tropical, etc.
Keys to Success:
• Offer simple, delicious, healthy and easy to prepare menu items.
• Treat every customer as if they are the only customer.
• Design and employ strict financial controls.
Market: The Soya Restaurants business will target a growing middle class population working in the in
Kigali City and other urban cities that is in great need of diversified, high quality but affordable food
products.
Market segment: The Soya Restaurants business is targeting a segment population of a younger
generation of middle class status who are very concerned about the quality and the price of foods they eat.
The soya food products have the highest ration quality/price. The quality is high but the price is low in
comparison of other food products.
The Soya Restaurants will target young professional workers in public and private sectors or business
people who often take their launch and supper out in restaurants.
Location: The pilot Soya restaurant will be located in Nyarugenge at a place where people meet most
“meeting points/joints”.

Soy Milk Maker Tofu Making Machine

The Soya Milk Maker is a soya processing
system for micro-enterprise development. It is
designed to provide daily output of soymilk in
the range of 200 to 300 litres.
Tofu, also known as soya curd, is a soft cheese-
like food made by curdling soya milk with a
coagulant. Tofu is a rather bland tasting product
that easily absorbs the flavours of the other
ingredients.
Processing and packaging: Soya milk is made by soaking soya beans in water and then grinding the
soaked beans in water. The pulp is separated from the milk by filtration. Soya milk could be packaged in
plastic bottles, and yogurt in plastic pots. Tofu is sold in water-filled packs or in aseptic cartons. Fresh
tofu is usually packaged in water and should be refrigerated and kept in water until used. If the water is
drained and changed daily, the tofu should last for one week. Tofu can be frozen for up to three months.
Plant and machinery: The soya milk maker proposed above consists of one system that combines a
grinder, mixer, boiler and a filter. By putting in soya beans and water as raw materials, the system does
the processing of soya beans into milk. Note that from one kilo of soya beans you can get seven liters of
milk. The highest output in food processing!
Production capacity: One soya milk maker machine shown above produces 45 liters per hour of soya
milk. One tofu maker produces 50 kg of tofu per day. It is better for one unit to have at least two soya
milk makers and one tofu maker. The unit could employ three to five unskilled people.
Utilities and Infrastructure needs: The system can be run with electricity or gas. Requirement of
electric power are moderate (1.1 KW). One critical requirement is availability of good quality potable
water for the process needs. A source of drinking water, either from a well or roof tank, etc. Water does
not need to be purified.
