Report on the celebration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at NERIE –
NCERT, Umiam
NERIE celebrated the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at NERIE – NCERT, Umiam.
The following activities / Programmes were organized at NERIE, Umiam.
1. Poster – cum- Slogan competition was held, which was participated by B.Ed. students.
2. Debate Competition on the topic “Gandhiji Philosophy on Education, its relevant in
Today’s Context” was held at NERIE and participated by B. Ed students.
3. On 2nd October, 2018, the celebration started with paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and
taking pledge by all the faculty members, staff and students of NERIE. A Brief talk was
given by Prof. S. C. Roy, I/c Principal, NERIE on Mahatma Gandhi and his contribution
towards Education and his views on Swatch Bharat. There was distribution of hand gloves,
apron, masks to all the MTS of NERIE and caps to all the faculty, staff and students of
NERIE. After which cleaning drive in and around NERIE campus was followed and all the
faculty, staff and students of NERIE enthusiastically participated in the drive. Traditional
Dustbins were placed in and around the campus of NERIE. A talk was delivered by Dr.
Hemashree Sharma from NEIGHRIMS on the Needs and Importance of Health & Hygiene
among Students, teachers and community members. Community members from Nongsder
and Umiam village were also invited.
