CSD 150th Anniversary Mural Series:
1. Ella Mae Lentz The CSD’s 150th anniversary mural series are done!! Ella Mae Lentz mural is the 6th and last one in the series. It is the longest 150th anniversary mural ever done with 12 people in it!
Ella Mae Lentz is a well known poet, author, and Deaf advocate. She is the one of the authors of hugely popular Sign Naturally series (ASL curriculum and textbooks). She also produced several popular ASL poem telling videos. She is a strong advocate of Deafhood. This mural shows Ella Mae Lentz giving balloons to students to enlighten them with Deafhood. Several students who got the balloons are flying free while a line of excited students waiting for their turn to become enlightened. It is located on school cafeteria’s side access wall next to the Quad. The students in the mural are: Nicky Lim, Ben Ross, Alexandria Brinkley-‐Green, Blanca Barron, Jordan Sandoval, Malvana Ramborger, Izcali Esparza, Donny Camp, Luke Bella, Malia Zornoza , and Cristina Mabuyo.
2. Dr. Roberto Davilia
Here is the second mural of CSD’s 150 anniversary mural series. This mural shows 1st and 2nd graders celebrating Dr. Roberto Davilia’s (a CSD product) rise to success as Gallaudent President. Dr. Roberto Davilia is signing “Gallaudet” while holding Chapel Hall building. It is located on elementary building next to administration building.
The students in the murals are: Damaiya Daniels, Trevor Robertson, Chwa:Kin
MC Cutcheon, Estelina Kovacs, Jaylen Johnson, Jaden Reader, and Naomi Brock.
3. Don Parodi
Here is the third mural of CSD’s 150th Anniversary mural series. This mural shows a crowd of CSD students excitingly bring Don Parodi to the Bell Tower to show their gratitude for his philanthropy. While CSD High School students are carrying Don Parodi on their backs, he is holding a small version of Bell Tower in his hand. It is located on the corner of CSD library/Media Center.
The students in the mural are: Sabrina Firl and Phillip Castaneda (Kindergarten students), Walter Baldwin (Special Need HS student), Alivia Alberigi-Speicher, Allen Diaz, and Andrey Cherepov (HS students) , Tivon (last name?) and Kiara Morris-Dadzie (5th graders).
4. Granville Redmond
CSD’s 150 fourth anniversary mural is done! And two more murals left to go…
This mural shows four CSD artists studying Granville Redmond’s work in an art studio. The students in the mural are: Amelia Bernstein, Megan Ketchum, Micah Morris, and Erika Schwedr.
5. Theophilus d’Estrella
Here is the 5th CSD’s 150 anniversary mural. This mural shows Theophilus d’Estrella taking a photo of a group of restless middle school students. He was one of the first students to be enrolled at CSD in San Francisco. He had been an important part of CSD community for more than 50 years as a writer, artist, ASL storyteller, traveler, photographer, and teacher. He was called “The Magic Lantern Man” because CSD students loved to watch the slide show of d’Estrella’s photos. He is truly a Renaissance man.
The students in the mural are: Andre Nathaniel, Jennifer Rose, Nereyda Rodriquez Meza, Alejandra Cisneros, Natalie Brentham, Daniel Cease, and Andrew Cho.
