Proverbs 13:4 The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat (satisfied).

Diligent = eager determination.

Now!Do each day whatever God provides to do.

If you don’t have marketable skills, get some.

Learn to do something productive, and do it well.

5 A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame. 6 Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.

We may hide sin for a time, but we’ll always be found out.

7 There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.

An abundance of money and stuff

does not create an

abundant life.

8 The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.

This will probably never happen to me.

What could they hope to get out of it.

During the Great Depression, not one poor person committed suicide from losing his money.

But some very rich people killed themselves.

9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

Only what God does is eternal.

The Holy Spirit is our light.

The wicked make their own light, and like a fire made with kindling, it will soon go out.

10 Only by pride cometh contention (quarrels; strife) : but with the well advised is wisdom.

Too proud to admit that he might be wrong.

Always has to be right; he will holler the loudest.

He won’t listen to wisdom.

He thinks nobody understands his situation.

Pride of self causes all fighting.

Humility will bring peace.

To really hear another viewpoint requires humility.
