Artist Statement

These 10 paintings were done on site at the Get Smart Conference of the Association for Women in Communication during the lively break out session facilitated by Heather McKissick.

This set of small paintings reflect the flow of ideas and interactions on the theme of Leadership Across Generations. The session addressed gender and generational leadership styles, individual strengths and blind spots, and personal plans for leadership development.

These illustrations connect through the artist to the poetic and abstract elements of the conversation of the highly interactive session.

I am the painter in the room. Exchange of ideas directly inspires shapes, colors, and rhythms in my on-site work.
