ROTARY WORKSHOP
DATE: 27th July, 2014
VENUE: TRP Auditorium, EEC, Chennai

The Rotary International District 3230 Workshop on International and Youth
Service was a Rotary event, which means that it is not generally conducted by
Rotaractors. This event was conducted in the TRP auditorium of our college. The
event head was Aysha, the Joint Secretary of the RC of EEC.
An official training seminar for District Rotary Officials, this was attended by
over 150 Rotarians. The event was conducted to give the Rotarians training on
community service development, community service health and public image,
which are important divisions of the Rotary clubs.
The event was attended by personage from the parent club, including the
District Governor, Rtn. I.S.A.K.Nazar, the President Rtn. Srinivasan, International
Service Director Rtn. Balasubramanium and the Youth Service Director Rtn.
Gnanavelan.

The entire coordinating team was made up of Rotaractors from the RC of
EEC. The daunting task of welcoming the Rotarians, helping them park their
vehicles, ensuring their comfortable seating, making sure refreshments were
served and making sure the event went on without hindrance was achieved by us.
The words of praise received from the Rotarians were a testament to the
organizers that the entire event was a huge success!

REACH OUT ROTARACT
DATE: 1st August, 2014
In conjunction with the World Population Day, 11th July 2014, RAC SEGi KL
members have taken a simple initiative to reach out to as many individuals around
them and snap a picture a.k.a selfie!
The objective of this project is to spread out the awareness of Rotaract spirit, via
keeping up with these self-picture snapping phenomena.
This project initiative had captured our interest and so this project became an
international joint project with the Rotaract Club of Colombo South, Sri Lankan
D3220 and Rotaract Club of SEGi Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
With this the project poster of the International Joint Project "REACH OUT
ROTARACT" for World Population Day 2014 was launched with a total of 1000
selfies.

‘EXPLORIA’

Our 1st International Twinning agreement of this year was signed by the DRR Arjun
Raja in the District Rotaract Council meet held in Adyar Gandhi Club on 3rd August.
Our International Service Directors Janani and Satyaraj have taken up the initiative
to ensure that the Rotaract Club of SRM Easwari Engineering College is now
twinned with the Rotaract Club of Alexandria, Egypt for their upcoming project,
"Eco-Treasure Hunt".
The agreement was signed by our President, Vikashini Kumar and Secretary
Ganesh.
The new club pin was also released at the DISTRICT ROTARACT COUNCIL meet.

‘INSPIRE’
DATE: 17th August, 2014
VENUE: Chettinad Vishyashram
NUMBER OF ATTENDEES FROM THE RC of EEC: 20+
The District Rotaract Assembly, which went by the name Inspire, this year, was held
on 17th August, 2014 at the Chettinad Vidyasharam School Auditorium.
The District Rotaract Assembly is a training seminar for all the newly installed office
bearers. The emcee was Rtr. Britto who kept the audience captivated by his
innovative way of speaking.
The Chief Guest of the event was Rtn. Natarajan Nagoji. Rtn. C. R. Raju, Rtn.
Gnanvelan and Rtn.Tamilselvan were present there giving their support. Rtr. DRR
Arjun Raja and Rtr DR Secretary Swathi Sujir presided over the assembly. The crowd
was inspired by the keynote address delivered by Mr. Anthony Thirunelveli,
director of Neeya Naana.
The event is to explain all the office bearers about the responsibilities they hold.
Each post is called out and the office bearers from all the clubs holding the same
post are led to a room where their responsibilities are explained by a highly trained
person.
The Rotaract Club of SRM Easwari with all its office bearers attended the event.

STREE SURAKSHA RALLY
DATE: 30th August, 2014
VENUE: Marina Beach
NUMBER OF ATTENDEES FROM THE RC of EEC: 50+
The Stree Suraksha rally was conducted at the Marina beach on the 30th of August
to raise awareness and to gather support for the victims of acid attack.
The entire profit made from the rally goes to a foundation called Survival Instincts
which supports and helps abused women. The event was organized by the Rotaract
Club of Women’s Christian College, Chennai.
Over 50 Rotaractors from the Rotaract Club of SRM Easwari participated in the rally
to show their support. The Rotaractors even purchased the T shirts sold at the rally,
the fund which goes to the same foundation. Usually, rape victims aren’t exactly
supported in the society. But this rally has been a huge support and has saved the
lives of many abused women.

CULTURAL BOX EXCHANGE
DATE: 4th September, 2014
In view of the International Twinning agreement between the Rotaract Club of Easwari
Engineering College and the Rotaract Club of Alexandria, Egypt, culture boxes were
exchanged successfully.
A culture box is a set of items that depict our culture, tradition and civilization. A
culture box exchange naturally gives the opportunity to understand the customs of an
unfamiliar society.
A variety of items from dress materials to recipes, with a small description about
each item, was exchanged between the two clubs on September 4th, 2014.
Efforts of Rtr. Satyaraj and Rtr. Janani Balaji, our International Service directors
were monumental in making the first twinning agreement this year a successful one.

TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATIONS
DATE: 5th September, 2014
VENUE: Easwari Engineering College
As a token of gratitude to our teachers, the Rotaract Club of Easwari Engineering
College in collaboration with the YRC celebrated teacher’s day.
We presented a greeting card compassing of a personalized message penned by
our Rotaractors to every single teacher in the college.
Several games were conducted for all 300 teachers of our college. Our gesture was
well-received and it was reciprocated by a warm and positive feedback.
The session was thoroughly entertaining and we thank all the teachers for their
enthusiastic participation.

THE MASK
DATE: 4th and 5th October, 2014
VENUE: Egmore Museum Theatre, Chennai
NUMBER OF ATTENDEES: 1700+
NUMBER OF ATTENDESS FROM THE RC of EEC: 300+
The event named The Mask ’14 took place on the 4th and 5th of October at the
Museum Theatre, Egmore. This event was conducted by the Rotaract Club of
Easwari Engineering College.
The Mask 13’ was a project initiated by the past Joint Secretary, Goutham Kannagi,
who has also helped guide Mask ’14 to a huge success. While last year’s project was
a joint effort of three Rotaract Clubs, this year RC of EEC took the sole charge to
carry out the success from last year. The project Chairman was our Vice President
Mahalukshmi.
The Mask is a fund raising event, a stage play, issued in public interest, to garner
adequate attention towards the provision of basic amenities for the children, a
humongous pool of tremendous potential. The funds gathered through the play,
are to be put in use by setting up Reverse Osmosis Plants in two schools in Chennai
- CPS, Korukkupet, and in CPS, TH Road (New Washermanpet).

There were 4 shows in total, 2 each day. Tickets to the play were sold and the
crowd turn up was phenomenal. The event was a grand success raising a whooping
1.5 lakh for the children.
The play was incredibly innovative, directed and acted by Rotaractors. The director
of the play, Pranav Giridharan was a big pillar of support.
Another one of the main reasons for success was the Sergeant at Arms, Selva
Subramanian and PRO, Dinesh Raj, without whom the play would have been
impossible to conduct and their contributions to the production and marketing
teams were invaluable.

‘MY FLAG, MY INDIA’
DATE: 7th December, 2014
VENUE: YMCA, Nandanam, Chennai
NUMBER OF ATTENDESS FROM THE RC of EEC: 300+
December 7th, 2014 was a milestone of a day, with a Guinness world record and a
personal achievement for each and every single person who attended the event.
Organized by the Rotary International District 3230, this Guinness World Record
setting event, aptly named ‘My Flag My India’ was a phenomenal success, with the
attendance of around 56,000 people from all over the city.
The event involved the formation of a Human Flag, with the participants given
various colored boards and made to stand in specified spots in order to form the
National Flag of India.
The Rotaract Club of SRM Easwari was one of the four Engineering Colleges which
had a registration of over 1000 people. This event showcased the National Spirit
and our fellow countrymen’s pride in doing something for our Nation.
The sense of patriotism and the feeling of standing shoulder to shoulder with
56000 proud Indians, Chennai-ities, holding a part of the Tri-Color and singing
Vande-Mataram was an enigmatic experience.

Certificates were distributed to every participant indicating that they are a part of
Guinness Record.

Cricket is not just a sport. It is a
religion, with cult like following in
India. Keeping in mind this
phenomenal sport which unites
everyone,The Rotaract Club of SRM
Easwari conducted its annual cricket tournament for First years, in the name of
‘Ballebaaz 2014’ in order to provide the green rotaractors a window of relaxation
and enjoyment in their hectic schedules. The winners of the tournament were from
the Civil Department, B Section. The event took place in two stages- with the first
half of the tournament being held
at Porur common ground on 2nd
November 2014 and the knockout
rounds being held at the Ambedkar
ground, Mogappair on 11th January
2015. 14 teams participated, with a
minimum of 11 participants in each
team. The Winners and runners are

Raj ( II Year, Mech-A) is the chairman of
ballebazz 2014. This event was the
brainchild of Rtr. NareshDhanasekaran(
III Year, Civil-A), who single handedly
conducted
Ballebaaz 2013.This year, it was
conducted solely for the First Years, in
order to instill a sense of team spirit and
Ballebaaz gave the first years an
oppurtinty to bring out the sportsmen in
them. The first years thus got an
opportunity to demonstrate their
teamwork and also show off their
sporting skills in front of their peers.
Nearly ten Rotract Office Bearers came
to help with organizing the event, along
with a few non-office bearers. The
tournament was a welcome relief to the
stressed students and helped ease some
of their stress. The event was an overall
success, with the First years having
played the sport of their heart’s desire and also having won a trophy in the process.

Tress are the saviours of world, recognising the need of trees rotaract club
of SRM Easwari took an initiative to plant trees through the event named
VRUKSHA . On 26-01-2015 nearly 20 rotractors from the club were

engaged in planting
tree saplings in various
government schools to
encourage the school
children to grow trees.
Around 120 saplings
were planted by
them.35 saplings were
planted in Chennai
primary school at
thiruvanmyur,10
saplings at Chennai
high school kottur,40 saplings at Chennai high school mgr nagar,15
saplings at Chennai girls school sidapet and 20 saplings at Chennai
primary school washermenpet. The event was co-ordinated by Rtr.krishna
Prasad. The students of the school actively took part in planting the
saplings and each took a
responsibility of takeing care of the
saplings they planted. The teachers
of the respective schools also
adviced their students to take care
of the plants also spoke about the
importance of plantation to their
students. Land mark constructions
sponsored the money required for
saplings to be brought and
certifications were to be provided
for those schools which had the
saplings planted. The saplings were
to be inspected by the club

school students to realise the need of trees and made a little help to the
environment.
