FESTIVAL OF SHARING
DATE: 29th October 2016
Diwali, the festival of lights is one the most sacred festival of the hindus. Though it
has many myths revolving around why it is being celebrated in such a large scale all over the
country, the main among them is that evil is destroyed by the good deeds and that only these
good deeds prevail.
We the Rotaract club of SRM Easwari have contributed our little for the festival
celebrations by providing people with things. The club collectively distributed sweets to
people in slum areas on the occasion. We also gave away clothes to people working for their
daily wages in our homes. Clothes, sarees for the people working in our homes was the first
of the festival of sharing.
The office bearers of the club also joined in a small ride near Kovalam where we
nearly distributed about 12kg of sweets to people in and around the area, homeless people
and children living in the roadsides. Money was also distributed to the people in poverty in
these areas. The festival of lights is also not complete without bursting crackers and we the
office bearers also distributed some crackers to construction people in our locality and small
children. These sweets, snacks and crackers that were distributed among the people were well
received and the people enjoyed the treats. The festival was only complete by these deeds that
made the time worthwhile. We shared dresses, sweets, crackers and money but our real
endeavor will always be the imparting of knowledge which only can in the long run uplift
those people to live an independent life which will only give real happiness. Our small steps
is striving towards that bigger goal.

entrance exams that engineering students can apply and what coaching had to be
taken to clear the exams. He explained what preparations had to be done and
also the right method of preparing for entrance exams.

Number of rotaractors participated: 30
Physical disability is not a weakness but with support it can be made
unnoticeable. The Rotaract Club of SRM Easwari along with many community
services wanted to go a step higher by educating and supporting the physically
challenged so that they too can experience normal life like others.
This event involved rotaractors mingling with the children from the Sri
Chandrodhayam home for physically challenged wherein they taught them
sports and played games with them.
The children of the home where very excited once they got to know that the
club had planned a sports activity for them that weekend and were looking
forward to it the week before.
When the rotaractors reached the place, they were graced with much love and
affection from the children and were excited seeing the basketballs, cricket bats
and balls, and they all got together and started their play.
Being physically challenged did not stop them from playing hard. They enjoyed
each and every moment of the time with the rotaractors.
The rotaractors after a tiring day of play with the children bid goodbye to them.
They presented the home with a basketball as a gift to the children. The children
rejoiced this gesture and were expecting another arrival of the members of the
club on another day.
Such events help out in the little things but also necessitate that the little things
play out to be very important in anyone’s life. They furthermore instilled them
with the confidence that being physically challenged is not a disability and that
they are no less.
