Characteristics of Cubism

• Emphasis on two-dimensionality

• Used multiple or contrasting view points

• Use of geometric shapes and edges

• Broke up natural forms into little cubes or geometric shapes.

• Removed bright colours.

• Monochromatic concentration on line and form.

• Analytical Cubism was a direct development from Cezanne's approach to painting.
