Cath lab

• A catheterization laboratory or cath lab is an examination room in a hospital with diagnostic imaging equipment used to visualize the arteries of the heart and the chambers of the heart.• Can be used for both diagnostic and therapeutic purpose.

Common procedures includes:• Coronary Angiography or Coronary catheterization• Coronary Angioplasty or Percutaneous coronary intervention• Closure of some congenital heart defect• Treatment of stenotic heart valves• Permanent and temporary pacemaker implantations• Electrophysiological studies such as AV node ablation• Left and right Sided pressure studies

Cath Lab consists of :• Fluoroscopy• Patient Table• Image intensifier• Viewing monitors• Real time ECG, Blood pressure, Oxygen saturation

measurements.• Injector pump• Angioplasty balloons• Defibrillator
