Your Community Centre The improvements to the Mechanics’ Institute Reserve (MIR) Building have benefited by a substantial upgrade with a generous grant from the Moorabool Shire Council. This included new air con-ditioners to replace the many non-oper-ational units and the servicing of the others. The ambience has been greatly en-hanced by a new colour scheme and to-tal repaint for the Hall and all of the in-terior front section of the Building. The renovation has also been enriched by the new, full-glass sliding doors to the entrance. The safety strip on these doors was designed by Rodney Browne and it celebrates Ballan’s Arboretum Project and the vast collection of beau-tiful trees in the town. The Committee of Management were also pleased to collaborate with APM – Employment Consultant - Disability Em-ployment Services to further the im-provements. This saw the preparation and painting of the walls and floors of the new Art Gallery/Studio in addition to the Hall furniture storeroom, stage stairwell and hallway. The stage wings were also repaired and painted. Continuing these essential improve-ments have brought this very big pro-ject closer to completion. The Commu-nity Centre is enriched by a fresh, invit-ing ambiance. Ballan Community House is a Chamber of Commerce Award winning, Not-For-Profit Community Association.
