Call for Papers

The Institute of Education (IOE) is housed within the Faculty of Arts, Law and

Education at The University of the South Pacific (USP) and is secretariat to the Pa-

cific Association of Teacher Educators (PATE) and the Pacific Education Research

Foundation (PERF) - a project of the Rethinking Pacific Education Initiative for and

by Pacific Peoples (RPEIPP). IOE is pleased to announce the Vaka Pasifiki Education

Conference, 2014.

The Conference theme is: Weaving Theory and Practice in Teacher Education for

Oceania. The Conference will have four concurrent streams:

(1) Weaving theory and practice in Language, Literacy, and Teacher education

(2) Weaving theory and practice in Numeracy, Assessment, ICT, and Teacher education

(3) Weaving theory and practice in Educational Administration in Teacher education

And a final general stream specifically designed to continue RPEIPPs mandate:

(4) Re-thinking and transforming Pacific Learning, Teaching, and Teacher education .

Conference conveners now invite Teacher Educators, Educational Policy-makers,

Teachers, Lecturers, Researchers, Postgraduate Students, and all with a passion for

teacher education in Oceania, to submit abstracts for papers to be presented at

the Vaka Pasifiki Conference.

The 2014 Conference will be held at Faonelua Convention Centre, Nukualofa,

Kingdom of Tonga, on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th September 2014. Vaka

Pasifiki provides an opportunity for the sharing of ideas, presentation of research

and best practice, and discussion of issues relevant to teacher education, educa-

tional policy and practice, and teaching and learning in Oceania.

REGISTRATION

To register please print and fill the Conference Registration Form, scan and return by email to moale.otunuku@usp.ac.fj. Registration closes 8 September 2014. All registered attendees will pay the Conference Fee of TOP$40 at the conference registration desk on 24 Sept 2014. Early Bird Registra-tions (before 30 April 2014) will pay a discounted Conference Fee of TOP$30 on 24 Sept 2014.

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS

Abstracts are welcomed for either:

Full presentation (20 mins plus 10 mins question time)

or

Short presentation (10 mins plus 5 mins question time).

Presenters are invited to submit their full papers by 31 August for publishing in the Conference Pro-ceedings and for consideration for an edited book.
