PRESIDENT’S REPORT
A Terrigal Trotters President’s report is typically a summary of the goings on of our club over the pre-vious twelve months. Time is taken to highlight the more special moments, maybe a few stand-out achievements and thank those who made noteworthy contributions to the running of the club.
However, as my time as President is now at an end, I have taken time to reflect on not only the past 3 years I have served as President, but the whole time I have been a member, 375 runs and counting.
It seems like yesterday I took on the role of Secretary with Paul “Davo” Davison serving as President. It was about 8 years ago and whilst only fairly new to the club, around 50 runs at the time, I knew I had found a welcoming home and wanted to contribute in any way I could. Those early years were a time when I learnt so much about Terrigal Trotters including its history, customs and most importantly its members.
On face value Terrigal Trotters would appear to be a ”running club” and essentially the Saturday run is the cornerstone on which it was founded nearly 35 years ago. Indeed a record of attendance is kept and members are awarded each time they attend another 100 runs. This is a material way of measuring one’s time and participation with our club, but I measure the value of Trotters by the friendships I have formed and the many great experiences shared with like-minded people. These are the things that bind us together and bring us back week after week, year after year, plus the prospect of good times ahead.
Our club will have a new President and I wish whoever it may be all the best in guiding this wonderful club into the future. I also wish the incoming Committee all the best and trust they will ensure the con-tinued success of Terrigal Trotters.
It can’t be understated how important a reliable and well-functioning Committee is to the successful running of our club and I have been blessed to be surrounded by a diverse and enthusiastic group of people. In particular I would like to acknowledge Vice-President Jenny Barker, Secretary Dave Byrnes and Treasurer Jeff Dick. They all work tirelessly for Terrigal Trotters and our members (especially my-self) are beneficiaries of everything they do; thank-you.
On a more personal note, I have truly enjoyed my time at the helm and will be forever grateful to Ter-rigal Trotters and its members for their support and encouragement during my time as President.
Sincerely
Mark Dunlop President Terrigal Trotters Incorporated

TREASURER’S REPORT
The 2015/2016 Financial Year was another strong financial year for Terrigal Trotters Inc. The finan-cial position of the club remains sound, particularly due to the financial contribution to the Club from the GNW100s event and the Bay to Bay Running Festival. During the year, the club took a major step forward in appointing a part time bookkeeper, transitioning accounting onto the MYOB platform which has enabled improved reconciliations, better controls and ‘cloud’ access by our bookkeeper, Harwood’s and committee members.
Revenue
Total Revenue for the year was $191,024, up by $25,046 versus 2014/2015. The main revenue items continue to be the Bay to Bay; the GNW100s and Saturday running fees.
The Bay to Bay event income was significantly up on the previous year, including increased Sponsor-ship payments and a higher number of participants as a result of regular reminders to previous en-trants. As a result of higher revenues, donations to Charities and other recipients (including Terrigal Trotters) increased to $52,274 including substantial donations of $13,000 to the Blair’s Wish and Cen-tral Coast Kids in Need charities. The main financial contributor to the Club was last year’s (Sept 15) successful GNW100s event and my thanks again go to Dave Byrnes and the many volunteers for a very well organised event.
Expenses
Total expenses for the Club at $112,444 were higher than the previous financial year, mainly due to higher expenditure for both the Bay to Bay and GNW100s. The cost of running these successful events is carefully monitored as costs of awards, T shirts and infrastructure required has sharply increased. We continue to heavily subsidise participation in Trotter events with the main expenditure areas be-ing:
1. Continuing the Milestone and Trophy awards, recognising the contribution of Trotters over the years
2. Increased Insurance costs, including volunteer insurance.
3. The costs of hiring buses to transport runners to the major events (eg City to Surf) and al-so to the regular GNW trail runs. During the year, the previous supplier of buses (with driver) for participants in these events sold their business and this resulted in a significant increase in our hire costs. After review by the Trotters Committee, it was decided to ask for volunteers from the Club to drive buses which we would hire ourselves and thus reduce costs. On behalf of the Club, I would like to thank those members who have given up a significant portion of their weekend to volunteer to drive these buses to events and allow other club members to participate.
The cash position of both the Terrigal Trotters General Account and the Bay to Bay Account tends to peak at the end of June each year as revenue for both Bay to Bay and GNW100s has been received without corresponding outflows. The TT General account as at end June showed a balance of $53,792. This Account includes revenue (entry fees) for this year’s GNW100s (reflected as ‘Income Received in Advance’) and we will not incur the expenses for this event until September. The Bay to Bay account as at end June stood at $62,592 with donations and expenses of over $50,000 still in the process of payment at that point. We still retain two Term Deposits (TT General and the Bay to Bay), valued at $18,240. As the Club is well in excess of the GST threshold, the cash position of Terrigal Trotters is monitored accordingly.
Finally, my thanks to Harwood Chartered Accountants for their assistance, diligence and persever-ance in preparing the Financial Reports.
