BSA Leader Training Tutorial
The following is a tutorial for the My Scouting training website
Please follow the tutorial to complete your required training
The training sessions only take about 20-30 minutes to complete on average
The best part…they’re free and anyone can complete them!
Type www.myscouting.org and press “Enter”
Or sign in here if youare already registered
Create an account here
Click “E-Learning”
Click here to take
“Youth Protection”
When you complete“Youth Protection”,
click “Next”
Enter your nameand troop, pack,or crew number;
then press “Print Certificate”
After printing your certificate, click “Next”
Be sure to turn yourcertificate in with
your Adult Application
Click “E-Learning”
The light is now green indicating
that the course is complete
Now click on theappropriate tab foryour Scouting unit
To be considered “Trained”,you must also complete FastStart and Leader Position-Specific Training for yourposition as well as “This
is Scouting”
As you complete your training sessions, the
yellow lights will turn green
Click on “Update My Profile”
Once you receive your BSA membership card,select “Old North State Council” in the drop
down menu and enter your membership number.Then press “Add”. This will update the council’s
computer with your training records.
Venture Leaders will need to take “Venture Leader Training through the council
Boy Scout and Venture Leaders will also need to complete “Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills” through the council
For Cub Scout packs going on any outing, at least one leader on the outing must have completed B.A.L.O.O. (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) training through the council
More required training…
Webelos Leaders will need to complete “Outdoor Skills for Webelos Leaders” through the council
Pack Trainers will need to complete “Trainer’s E.D.G.E.” through the district or council
Supplemental training…
Don’t forget all of the “Supplemental Training” thatis available online. These courses will increase your
knowledge of the program and make you a better leader!
