My dear friends,
Greetings and best wishes to you all. This academic activities of IAP-ID for
2010 was off to a flying start with the highly successful Mid Year Teaching
Programme on “Fluorescence in Pathology” held at All India Institute of
Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, in May. As with all academic activities
conducted by the IAP-ID the CME was of the highest standard and excellent in content
and its conduct and attracted a large number of delegates from all over the country. On
behalf of the IAP-ID our thanks are due to Dr. Manoj Singh and his team for the excellent
Programme. It is indeed heartening to see the whole hearted and active participation of
the members in attending the various academic programmes of the IAP-ID.
Coming up soon in September is the IAP-ID Annual CME on the very important
theme of “Diabetes” and will be held at the M. S. Ramiah Medical College, Bangalore,
and after that the Annual Conference in December at Hyderabad. Both these meetings
promise to be very interesting and useful and I am sure that the members of the IAP-ID
would actively participate and make full use of these excellent opportunities to update
their knowledge with the latest in the field as well as use these meetings as a forum to
exchange their views and experiences with others.
The IAP-ID has achieved great heights in the last many years and has many things
to be rightly proud of. One of this, which deserves special mention, is the excellent website
of our Division www.iapid.org of which all of us should be proud of. On behalf of the
IAP-ID I would like to express the immense gratitude and thanks of the IAP-ID to Dr. John
Marshall Johnson who not only started the website for the IAP-ID but has been maintaining
and updating it so well for the last decade. The website provides upto date information
of all the activities of the IAP-ID, Newsletters, and other important information including
those on meetings being held in India and abroad. I urge all the members to visit the
Divisional website and also encourage others to do so.
The IAP-ID has, over the last decade and a half, grown tremendously to become
one of the most dynamic and admired Divisions of the International Academy of Pathology
(IAP). Let us all strive to ensure that the IAP-ID achieves ever greater heights of excellence
and be a glittering beacon to all.
