AR-7 EXPLORER INSTRUCTIONSIMPORTANT:THIS .22 CALIBER AR-7 RIFLE IS DESIGNED TO ACCEPTSTANDARD OR HIGH VELOCITY .22 L. R. RIM FIRE AMMUNI-TION. THE USE OF OTHER THAN THIS RECOMMENDED AM-MUNITION WILt VOIO THE ONE YEAR FULL WARRANTY.

To Assemble1. Remove butt cap by holding stock in one hand; place thethumb of other hand on the serrations of the butt cap. andremove by applying down and outward pressure from the top.2. Remove action, barrel and magazine from stock. Ca'ution:Use care to prevent parts from falling free causing possibledamage.3. Place action in slot provided in the front of stock andsecure by turning wing bolt in base of pistol grip finger tight.4. To attach barrel to action, line up lug on top of barrel withslot on top of action, and tighten barrel nut finger-tight. Note:Charging handle can fall from receiver if not held right sideup.5. Replace butt cap on stock.6. Insert eight. 22 Long Rifle rimfire caliber cartridges inmagazine.7. Insert magazine, pull out charging handle, draw charginghandle full to rear and release.8. Rifle is now ready to fire.9. Note: To engage thumb safety on right rear of action,rotate safety lever back in direction of pointing arrow marked"SAFE". Safety engages only when rifle is cocked.

CARE OF RIFLETo keep bore in perfect condition run through an oiled patchafter use. Exterior need not be oiled.If necessary to clean the action, leave assembled and wash inany petroleum solvent. drain and oil interior lightly with anygood grade of gun oil. Stock is not harmed by moisture or ex.posure and may be wiped clean with damp cloth.Aluminum black touch up may be used if outside finish of bar-rel and receiver is damaged.

Disassembly of the AR-7 ExplorerBefore attempting disassembly of AR-7 be sure thatMAGAZINE has been removed and Bolt has been pulled backto assure that Receiver and Chamber are free of live ammuni-tion.1. To remove magazine from action press the release whichis located forward of the trigger finger. Place magazine aside.Retract bolt and inspect bolt face and chamber to be sure rifleis not loaded.2. To remove barrel from action, loosen barrel nut approx-imately 2 turns. Pull out charging handle. retract bolt abouthalf way and then release so that bolt will stri ke rear end ofbarrel sharply. This will separate barrel from tight fit inreceiver. Unscrew barrel nut completely and remove barrel.Hold with receiver right side up to prevent loss of charginghandle.3. Remove Butt Cap in manner shown in picture.4. Return barrel to its recess in stock.5. Return magazine to stock with open end down and stopboss to the left.6. Remove action from front of stock.7. Depress charging handle and return the action to itspocket in the stock.8. Replace butt cap on stock.

For Proper Function, the Action of ThisFirearm Must be Kept Clean.

Insert eight .22 lR Rimfire calibercartridee maeazine. The chareinehandle, which is connectedto thebolt. is then pulled out and drawnback and the rifte is ready to fire.

A IUI is lined up and barrel is tight-eoed with the barrel nut linger-tilhl.

Safety Precautions1. Always handle any gun as if loaded.2. Keep on safety at all times except when intending to fire.3. Before use, check that the barrel is free of any obstruction.Always check after a fall while hunting.4. Be particularly careful when unloading the rifle to checkthe chamber after the magazine has been removed to assure alive round does not remain in the rifle.

ONE YEAR FULL WARRANTYCHARTER ARMS fully warrants, for a period of one year fromthe date of first purchase by a consumer from a recognizeddealer, this FIREARM to be free from any defects in materialsand workmanship, under normal use. This full warrantyreflects the confidence of its maker and the quality of thematerials and workmanship of its guns. This full warranty hasbeen established to protect your investment.CHARTER ARMS will remedy without charge any defects dueto faulty material or workmanship, during the term of this war-ranty once you, the owner of the gun notify CHARTER ARMSin writing stating the model number and serial number of thegun, a description of the difficulty experienced and the dateand place of the original purchase.If the gun is to be returned to CHARTER ARMS for adjustmentor repair, you must properly pack the gun. All attachments,cases, holsters or special grips should be removed. Whenreturning your FIREARM to Charter Arms, you may ship, in-sured, United States Parcel Post 4th Class; United Parcel Ser-vice or through a licensed dealer. In any case, shippingcharges must be prepaid. We acknowledge the receipt of allfirearms returned for repair. If an acknowledgement is notreceived within 30 days please contact the Customer ServiceDepartment. Please address all returns to CHARCO, Attention:Customer Service Department, 430 Sniffens lane, Stratford,CT, 06497.

Once the gun is properly repaired or adjusted, the gun will bereturned to you within a reasonable period of time. If,however, the necessary repairs cannot be made within areasonable period of time, you will be notified. Return ship-ping and insurance charges will be paid by Charter Arms.

EXCLUDED FROM THIS WARRANTY ARE THE FOLLOWING:malfunctions caused by improper use; unauthorized modifica-tions, adjustments. or repairs; shipping damage; physicalabuse; careless handling; defective or improperiy loaded am-munition; corrosion; and ordinary wear and tear.

THIS WARRANTY IS VOID IF OTHER THAN FACTORY LOADEDAMMUNITION IS USED. The proper recommended ammuni-tion for this Firearm is noted in the instructions attachedherewith.This item is classified as a FIREARM and is released byCHARTER ARMS with the explicit understanding that we arenot responsible for personal injury or property damage causedby improper use or accidental discharge due to conditionsbeyond our control. We are not responsible for the legality ofits resale. .This warranty replaces all other written warranties preJiouslyissued by CHARTER ARMS and in no way reduces any war-ranty coverage which you may have had in that previous war-ranty. This warranty is in full compliance with the Magnuson-Moss Warranty-Federal Trade Commission ImprovementAct, Public law No. 93-637 (July 4, 1975). This warrantygives you specific legal rights, and you may also have otherrights which vary from state to state.
