Changing the World: Welcoming, Recovery oriented systems and

services for people with co-occurring conditions.

A workshop with Ken Minkoff, M.D and Christie Cline, M.D, MBA

The workshop will discuss core evidence based recovery oriented principles of intervention for individuals and families with co-occurring mental health and substance use issues, and other complex needs, and demonstrate how those principles can translate into strategies that can be used by any person in any program (MH or AOD) to help people with complex needs make progress toward achieving happy, successful, and meaningful lives. The principles support the vision of a system in which all programs and everyone providing service become welcoming, recovery oriented, and co-occurring capable. In the second part of the day, participants will engage in hands on case based practicum learning, applying the principles to "real" clinical situations. This experiential learning is designed to help participants practice new strategies and make it easier to translate these approaches to their practice and their programs.

This initiative is funded by Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing under the 'Improved Services for people with Drug and Alcohol problems and Mental Illness' initiative.
