Donald Anderson Rm. 108 $30 Mon. 6:30-8:30 pm 1 wk. (10/16)
You PLAN in advance; you UNDERSTAND the financial aid process; you ACT early
enough to be successful.
Financial Aid goes to the families who plan in advance – ideally before December 31st
of the child’s sophomore year of high school. This course will teach you the concepts
and strategies that will help you maximize your financial aid by understanding the
process, and how implementing strategies may increase a family’s eligibility even if you
have a “high income” or own a business. The greatest amount of financial aid goes to
the families who act in the years before college. REMEMBER: Procrastination
equals less financial aid. All schools are not alike, so it is important to know your op-
tions and opportunities. A free financial aid analysis will be available to all attendees.

SAVVY SOCIAL SECURITY PLANNING B.H.S.
FOR COUPLES Rick Fentin Rm. 112 $30 Tues. 7:00-9:00 pm 1 wk. (10/3)
The Social Security decisions spouses make when they are in their 60s will determine
the amount of total income they will receive over their lifetime—especially the lifetime
of the spouse who lives the longest (usually the wife!).
This workshop will cover the NEW rules that can help married couples get the most out
of the Social Security system. We will cover: the optimal times to apply, spousal coor-
dination, minimizing taxes and effectively integrating Social Security with other assets.
Plus, the most important thing all higher-earning spouses should do and more. Why not
make sure you are maximizing your income? Even if you are already collecting, it may
not be too late to make a change.

MAXIMIZING SOCIAL SECURITY FOR SINGLES B.H.S.
AND DIVORCED SPOUSES Rick Fentin Rm. 112 $30 Thurs. 7:00-9:00 pm 1 wk. (10/12)
Social Security can be complicated. There are literally hundreds of rules that apply to
very specific individual circumstances. Strategies to maximize benefits for single indi-
viduals and divorced spouses can be very different than for married couples. Social Se-
curity is one of the few income sources that keeps up with inflation and lasts for life so it
is important to know how to make the system work for you. Many people fail to maxi-
mize their benefits because they do not understand the little-known rules that can help
them do better.
This workshop will cover the NEW Social Security rules, the optimal times to apply,
divorced spousal benefits and coordination, minimizing taxes and effectively integrating
Social Security with other assets. Why not make sure you are maximizing your income?
Even if you have already started collecting, it may not be too late to make a change.

THE “ABCs and Ds” of MEDICARE B.H.S.
Rick Fentin Rm. 112 $30 Thurs. 7:00-9:00 pm 1 wk. (10/2)
Medicare can be complicated! According to a recent survey by the Bankers Trust com-
pany, fifty-seven percent of baby boomers said they had a “poor understanding of Medi-
care” and thirty-one percent said they know “almost nothing” about Medicare.
This workshop will cover the following:
How Medicare enrollment periods work—and what you need to do to avoid late-
enrollment penalties.
How much you can expect to pay in health care costs after signing up for Medicare.
How Medicare works with private insurance to provide comprehensive coverage.
Why most people pay too much for private insurance and how you can avoid excess
costs.
Why you must plan for higher health care costs in retirement and strategies to do
that.

MAKING A SOCIAL IMPACT THROUGH B.H.S.
YOUR INVESTMENTS Chris Chen/Eric Weigel Rm. 112 $25 Thurs. 7:00-9:00 pm 1 wk. (11/9)
In the last few years investors both large and small have shown great interest in support-
ing socially impactful business that also exhibit sustainable financial performance.
Many investors have added a series of environmental, societal and governance (ESG)
criteria to the more traditional way they select investments. Often the goal is achieving a
double bottom line—doing good for society while also enjoying a return on the invest-
ment. Is this all a fad? What exactly do we mean by ESG? How do we find these in-
vestments? Can anybody participate in this trend? Are there easy ways to invest? Will
this approach subtract from portfolio returns?
We will share industry leading research on this topic and answer these and other key
questions on how to do good while also getting a return on your investment.

MAKING SENSE OF EXCHANGE TRADED FUNDS B.H.S.
Chris Chen/Eric Weigel Rm. 112 $25 Thurs. 7:00-9:00 pm 1 wk. (11/16)
Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) have taken the investment world by storm in the last few
years. No Longer do social climbers talk about their hot growth stock mutual fund (the
once only they have) but now all the rage is about getting more for less by picking
ETF’s. What do you mean? Getting more is all about getting higher returns and the less
part applies to the cost of such investments. More for less—I like it!
Is it really this simple? How are ETF’s different from the mutual funds in my 401K?
Are all ETF’s made the same? Should I just buy a bunch of these ETF’s and sock them
away? We will share with you our enthusiasm for using exchange traded funds but we
will also discuss potential pitfalls, issues to consider and most importantly how to navi-
gate through the maze of available investment choices and find those EFT’s that suit
your goals and expectations.

Would you like to get the benefits of strength training without going to the gym? This
class introduces a simple, effective workout that can be done at home using hand and leg
weights. The routine consists of eight basic exercises which are done with progressively
heavier weights. Studies at Tufts, where the program was developed, show participants
increased strength and bone density, improved balance and raised energy levels. Stu-
dents will learn and practice correct form for each exercise, and get tips for staying moti-
vated and obtaining maximum results. Suggested book: Strong Women Stay Young by
