“It was amazing to volunteer in an Early Learning class-

room. It was a blast sharing my love of music with the

kids, and hearing them sing along made me free great.

The teachers also made me feel so welcomed and

appreciated.”Will, age 17,

Volunteer from Brooks School

YWCA LEGACY The YWCA of Greater Lawrence is a social change organization which exists today for the same rea-sons it was founded in 1892: to assure that women have the tools, skills and opportunities needed to become and remain personally and economically self-sufficient. Behind every one of our milestones is a story, a journey and an unwavering commitment to im-proving the lives of women and their families. The breadth of our offerings is great, with every pro-gram and service molded to our mission of helping to foster peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Each year we serve over 15,000 people from our Lawrence, Haverhill, Lynn and Salem, NH locations, where people know they can turn for caring, com-passionate and highly skilled support.

YWCA COMMITMENT Since our inception, the YWCA has been committed to advancing the well-being of women, their chil-dren and families. The depth of our services is impressive and includes a wide range of programs:* Women’s Health Advocacy Services* Domestic Violence Intervention & Prevention* Sexual Assault Education & Intervention* Emergency Shelter Services* Transitional & Low Income Housing* Walk-in Service Opportunities* Court Advocacy* Early Learning Center* After and Out-of-School Programming* Gender-specific Programming* Summer Day Camp* Community Workshops & Outreach* Educational Opportunities for Adults, Teens and Children

YWCA FUTURE As we look to the future, our impact in the commu-nity will continue as we grow our programs at our seven locations. With the expansion of our afterschool programs in our YWCA Enrichment Center, we have the capacity of increasing the number of children served by 50 percent. This beautiful, modern facility is located in the historic Arlington Mills building in Lawrence, right on the Spicket River. The renovation project at our YWCA Haverhill site will modernize ten units to provide housing op-portunities for low-income women in the Greater Haverhill area, many of whom will be survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Our collabora-tions with schools, colleges and businesses from our North Shore Rape Crisis Center in Lynn brings awareness to many Essex County communities, and provides sexual assault intervention and safety programs to a broad audience. Our commitment to the Greater Lawrence, Greater Haverhill and North Shore communities will con-tinue as we aid victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, and guide new genera-tions of people toward futures centered around our commitment to excellence. “The YWCA has been a new beginning for me. Here I’ve learned that in spite of past abuse from my former partner, I can make a good life for myself and my two boys. A life where we look forward to our future with hope.”Elizabeth, Domestic violence survivor; YWCA Fina House Resident

“My experience as a volunteer Coach at the YW as part of their Budget Buddies program at Fina House has been fantastic. Karolina and I just

bonded, and we’ve kept the relationship going after the course ended. The YW is a great organization, and this program is so empowering to

both Fina House Buddies and Coaches; we all learn a lot!”
