APPRENTICESHIP SCHOLARSHIP

MACHINE REPAIR/MECHATRONICS TECHNICIAN

**ALL tuition expenses are paid for LCI Apprentices **FULL TIME PAY & BENEFITS

Receive your Degree. Become a Dept. of Labor (DOL) Registered Journeyman in the Industry. Be Coached by an Industry Journeyman. All at no cost to you!

Summary/Objective

The Machine Repair Apprentice position is responsible for performing all the duties and required trainings to become a LCI Machine Repair Journeyman (Maintenance Technician). The Apprentice will be assigned to study under a LCI Maintenance Repair Journeyman, and be required to complete all on the job trainings (OJT) and college degree course requirements.

The Apprentice will learn how and perform highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives.

This DOL certified Apprenticeship requires a 4-year commitment of on the job learning (OJL) and technical college courses.

Essential Functions

1. Learn how to operate and maintain advanced manufacturing machinery (i.e. Robotics, CNC, PLC, etc.) 2. Learn how to perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the

plant facility's equipment. 3. Learn how to provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production

and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service. 4. Learn how to perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities. 5. Learn how to perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic,

hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines. 6. Learn how to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required

maintenance and service. 7. Learn how to diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments. 8. Learn how to perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities. 9. Learn how to perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions. 10. Learn how to use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment

in performing duties. 11. Learn how to detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual

situations to proper supervision. 12. Learn and comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and the expected work hours are 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday; weekend and overnight work, as necessary.

Required Education and Experience

• 18 years old • High school diploma or equivalent • Physically able to perform all duties • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions • A Proven Attendance Record

Preferred Education and Experience

• 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment or o completion of a related high school program or o enrollment in a technical college training program.

• Experience operating and maintaining hand power tools • Experience in blue print reading and design • Experience operating and maintaining machinery • Experience building or troubleshooting electrical or electronic circuits

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• Must be able to pass Drug Test • A written and/or hands-on pre-assessment ability test may be given.

• EVerify.
