LEARNING FROM HOME - WEEK 10 - TERM 3 - 2021 Year 2 Weekly Overview Hello Year 2! This is the last week of Term 3! When we started this term we were all unsure of what it was going to look like. Your teachers wanted to make sure they could give you the best learning experiences through online teaching. You wanted to see your friends and teachers. And your parents wanted to make sure they were able to juggle their own work as well as help you learn from home. As teachers we are so very proud of how much you have achieved this term. You have shown resilience and a growth mindset throughout the term. It hasn’t been easy and there have been challenges for everyone. Please make sure that you take the time out to thank your parents, carers and siblings for helping and encouraging you. We really appreciate the support that your parents and carers have given you. On Monday we have ‘Pyjama Day’! Feel free to wear your pyjamas for your Zoom session! In each Zoom session, we will be showcasing your video for the ‘Talent Quest’! Remember to watch each video carefully and think about your favourite one. There will be a post on Seesaw on how to vote! We wish you all a wonderful holiday. Take the time out to rest and recharge your batteries. We will be starting off with Learning from Home in Term 4, but be back at school soon! The Year 2 teachers can’t wait to see you in person. Take care and have a wonderful and safe holiday! From Mrs Perry, Mrs Loftus, Miss Zhan, Miss Duignan, Miss Modesto and Mrs Sian

Mathematics

Today we will be revising 3D Objects. We learntabout the properties of 3D objects.

● A face is a flat surface that has straightedges. *The ends of a cylinder or thecircular surface at the end of a cone is NOTa face because they don’t have straightedges.

● A curved surface is the rounded surface likeon a cone or a cylinder.

● An edge is where two faces meet.● A vertex (sometimes called a corner) is

where three or more faces meet. If youhave more than one vertex, they arecalled vertices.

You are now going to build a real life 3D object.Follow the steps:

Page 4: Year 2 Weekly Overview - lindfield-p.schools.nsw.gov.au

1. Fill out the ‘Real life 3D Objects’ worksheet. You need to sketch a design of yourchoice and count the number of faces, curved surfaces, edges and vertices your objecthas.

2. Use lego, duplo, magnatiles, wooden blocks, mobilo, play dough or any other buildingmaterials you have at home to construct your object. If you don’t have any of thesethings that’s ok! Try looking in the pantry and use cans and boxes (but make sure youask an adult before you do this!)

3. Once you have created this object, label the faces, edges, vertices and curvedsurfaces

Optional challenge: choose a famous landmark (forexample the Harbour Bridge) and use your buildingmaterials to make a 3D model of it.
