Oliver’s amazing ride takes him to the House of Lords

Oliver Gatenby, a Stockton Wheelers team member in 5B, cycled over 100km through Yorkshire earlier this year to raise money for The Birthmark Support Group and The Mustard Seed Project. His epic journey took over 4 and a half hours! Oliver relished the arduous physical encounter whilst it shredded the legs of his support group which included his dad, grandad and friend Vince! In completing this challenge Oliver raised in excess of £2,600 for his chosen charities.

Oliver’s efforts were recently recognised officially when he was nominated for a British Citizen Youth Award. During half term Oliver went to the House of Lords and was presented the prestigious award by Kimberely Wyatt and Will Gore. He also had the opportunity to meet his local MP Rishi Sunak. Oliver and his family then went on to have tea at the House of Lords where he sat next to the founder of First News! Later in the day they all went on an open top bus tour of London. Oliver described the experience as a really fun day that he enjoyed a lot. Well done Oliver we are all proud of you!

Reading

Reading makes lots of people

happy.

Everybody should learn and

love to read.

Any books can come to life in

your imagination.

Don’t judge the book by its

cover.

Impossible is never a word in

reading.

Never dismiss a book before

you read it.

Gaining knowledge is what we

get from reading.

Isra A, 5P

Autumn

Leaf decorator, green

hater.

Fire burner, leaf turner.

Tree stripper, leaf ripper.

Rain pourer, closed

doorer.

Show muddier, log

ruddier.

Bird chirper, mud

burper.

Non shiver, fun giver.

Komal S, 6L

Autumn Forest

We stand here in this

forest,

And look at our

surrounding,

There are flowers and

trees,

Whilst we sit on our

knees.

The forest is our

friend.

Whilst sticks and twigs

bend.

Callum N, 6G

Year 6 en France!

I liked eating snails and frogs legs. The snails

tasted like chewy meat and the frogs legs

tasted like chicken. It was my most memora-

ble time of the French trip.

Adhi D, 6G

On the last day of the French trip

we went to the aquarium to look

and learn about the sea creatures.

My favourite part of the Aquarium

was the seals. We saw a window

cleaner in the tank with the seals

cleaning the tank.

India D, 6L

I enjoyed the aquarium

the most, my favourite bit

in it was in a fake ship

when it rocked back and

forth and you could hear

splashes of waves.

Ashley C, 6M

I enjoyed Nausica the

French aquarium because

there was lots of amazing

animals there.

Danielle D, 6G

The French trip was an amazing experience, to

practise the language, to learn more about the

culture and to visit French landmarks. The

Chocolate Factory was delicious and also very

interesting to see how the delicious treats we

enjoy are made. The hypermarkets are

gigantic and full to the brim with anything you

would ever need.

Hermia J, 6L

In France, I enjoyed going to the aquarium because we saw

lots of different types of fish. My favourite part was looking

at the leopard shark because the enclosure was very dark

and it was a shock when they came close to the glass. I also

enjoyed going to the trenches because you could tell the

difference between the German and the British trenches.

Guille G, 6M

The French trip was truly amazing! I

enjoyed eating the well toasted crepes

and also learning about World War 1 in

the mines. It was very wet!

Ammar S, 6G

The French trip was amazing.

We all learnt a lot about the

World Wars. I really enjoyed

learning about the lifestyle in

the war. The monument,

which was very beautiful, was

really tall and large. I had a

really great time!

Piya N, 6M

The French trip was spectacular. In my opinion the last day

was the best. The chocolate factory had a mouth watering

aroma of truffles and praline. There was also chocolate

stacks all across the counter.

Morven H, 6L

On the French trip I enjoyed

the crepes, the aquarium

and the chocolate factory. I

also really liked the disco

and the market. I wasn't

very keen on the food

though.

Miriam A, 6M

On the French trip I really enjoyed the

WW1 day. We went down into some

old quarries which the soldiers used for

hiding in the war. When they surfaced

it took the Germans by surprise and

the battle was a great success.
