Director's Message
This year sure seems to be flying by. I know that I've managed to squeeze in a lot of fun along the way revolving around old motorcycles. I've seen many of my fellow Yankees from my home here in the granite state to Florida and many points in between.
Down in Oley, P A, your Yankee members showed their fellow competitors how it was done on the Arrowhead run. Your fearless leader being the winner, with Dan Margolien and Charlie Gallo also winning awards - Good job! It was a COOL spring morning. I had on almost all the clothes I brought with me to stay warm. My little 1933 Harley didn't seem to mind since it ran like a champ from the start to the finish line. More people should participate in these runs because they realy are a lot of fun and a nice way to see some of the countryside.
A 30-40 mile run has been planned for our upcoming meet in Hebron by Jim Friedlander, Dan Vine and Marty Hansen. With several scenic attractions along the way including a ferry ride - sounds like fun. It's always fun getting out with a group of old motorcycles and going for a ride. Since our national meet is just around the comer I'd like to remind you that, as always, we will be looking for help at the gate, trash details before, during and after, and grounds preparation. Your help is needed to make it all work. Any and all volunteers will be accepted or maybe we'll just volunteer you.
See you in Hebron,
In Memoriam
Long time AMC member and enthusiastic Yankee Chapter member Joe Barber passed away July 7, 1996 after an extended illness. Joe will be missed for his integrity and sense of humor, including his lighthearted announcement, "Attention K-mart shoppers, we have a blue light special on selected Harley-Davidson parts and accessories right here in aisle three." Sadly, this blue light has been extinguished. His family has requested that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Joe's name to the Yankee Chapter and be sent to Jessie Jacaruso.

YANKEES Out And About
Photos by Tom Woodward and Sandy Gallo
Bill Campbell seems to be enjoying the beautiful weather at Wray Murdaugh's motorcycle swap meet in Keene, NH .
Joseph Scheitinger and Susan Perkins were at the May 5th Keene swap meet. Though not Yankee Chapter members, they deserve our recognition. Joseph is a former president of the New England Motorcycle Dealers Association. This group has repeatedly shown great generousity to our chapter. Joseph operated Harley-Davidson dealerships in Bridgeport and New Haven, CT until 1981. Susan was an active participant in many of the AMA events at Loudon, NH.
Jim Costa displays some of the wares he had for sale at the May 5th swap meet in Keene, NH .
Dan Margolien waves as he rounds the first comer on the Perkiomen Chapter's "Arrowhead Run" in Oley, PA. Dan rode his 1947 Harley-Davidson WL to a second place over-all finish.
Charlie Gallo studies the route sheet before setting off on the "Arrowhead Run" on his 1929 Harley-Davidson JD. Charlie received an award for best finish by a 1921- 1930 motorcycle.
"Smilin' "Dan Vine and Shawn Bailey rode in the Pappys Day memorial run in New London, CT on Dan's 1947 Indian Chief
