PerformanceThe show lasts 2 hour 10 minutes including a 25-minute interval (act 1 approx 1hour and 5 minutes, act 2 approx 40 minutes). There are 2 singers a conductor and a 12-piece ensemble. We will require a pit for the ensemble. The performance will be sung in Welsh. The two singers do not leave the stage during each act.

Performers and ensembleThere are 2 singers (one male one female) in the in the cast and we require at least two well-lit and warm dressing rooms. There are 12 in the ensemble plus the conductor so a further room for the conductor and either an orchestra room or suitable space for the ensemble is required for changing and case storage.

For the ensemble we require power for 14 lit music stands (these run off the lx board and require a channel in the pit with a 13amp tail). We will provide our own stands but will need orchestra chairs. We do not require a piano. All ensemble/instrument issues should be referred to our Company/Orchestra manager at MTW 029 20498471 [email protected]

Stage managementWe will tour with an asm (who also doubles as a wardrobe supervisor) a dsm and a technical stage manager. The production manager and lighting designer will also tour with the show, as will our orchestra manager. We require comms sets in the both wings and by the lighting desk.We require a cue light by the conductor (in the pit).

Transport get-inWe tour in a 40 foot artic truck and need clear access for the trailer plus cab unit. This will usually arrive half an hour before our get in commences (unless otherwise pre arranged); we would like to leave the trailer on the get in doors during our time in the venue. Please contact me ahead of the tour if this is a problem as our driver and tractor unit may not stay with the trailer and there will be an extra cost incurred if we have to remove the trailer after the set has been unloaded. There may also be tacho graph issues if this happens that would prevent the trailer moving after the get out. If it is not possible for the truck to stay please let me know ahead of our arrival so that I can inform the hire company.

Set and technical requirementsThe set consists of a raked (1/12) platform 8.5ms wide by 7.3ms deep with a ladder up stage centre coming out of the rake, in the final scene the top half of the ladder will need to be flown out, this is the only fly cue in the performance and will require a venue crew member to do this.

During the performance items of furniture, carpet and props are pushed over the sides and back of the rake.

There are some inbuilt lighting practical’s built in to the stage floor.During the first half a yellow carpet is removed by the cast as part of the action, revealing a brown dance floor under it which is then removed as part of the interval change.

Our setting line is 6.3ms forward of the bar used to fly the ladder out.The set pieces especially the 2x1m rostra are quite heavy (between 70 and 78 kgs) this is due to the pre fitted legs, the wooden finish and the inbuilt electrics.

MaskingIdeally this production works with a totally open stage with a black wall (or cloth if the wall is unsightly). It may also be necessary to work with a black box masking as far off stage as possible. We have found that up and down bars at the side and a full black at the back work best with a small entrance in the upstage corners and a small exit in the downstage corners.

We require borders for lx and the ladder bar.

Sound There is no pre-recorded or live sound in the performance but we will need fold back from the pit to the stage. We will provide the equipment to do this (unless there is pre rigged venue kit). Our equipment consists of two powered speakers a mini 4 channel desk and a microphone on a stand. We can provide all equipment for this.

AVThere is a video feed required of the conductor from the pit, for this we will tour 3 vt monitors (crt type) to be placed in the wings, and one by the dsm. A camera and a distro box and bnc cable. We will supply all of this equipment but will need constant 13 amp power for the monitors onstage and the camera in the pit.

Av/surtitleThe performance will be simultaneously translated (surtitles) from Welsh to English (or other language), to do this we will provide two 42inch monitors which will need to be positioned either side of the wing (in front of the pros arch) to allow the audience to see them. The monitors will be run from a laptop from the side of stage.

We will supply all this equipment but require constant power to run the monitors and computer.

LightingOur lighting designer Ace McCarron will be touring with the show. I will supply a generic lighting plan, and we will supply our own colour.

Currently we will be using side lighting (6 booms with two lamps on each) and approx. 4 floor circuits under the set.

Our LD will usually operate during the show.
