Monday   Tuesday  Wednesday  Thursday  Friday

This week we are going to

plan a sports day at

home.

Today we are researching

ideas for activities.Look

at resource 5 as a

starting point.Think about

how you could change,

adapt or design something

new to create sports day

activities perfect for your

home. If you want to,use

the internet with your

adult to research your

ideas.

Support: Use the ideas in

resource 5 to help you

plan your activities

Challenge: Invent a new

activity for your sports

day, write some

instructions on how to

play. You might look at

resource 6, do it yourself.

Plan your sports

day, what will you

include?Will anyone

be competing with

you? Is there an

audience? Where

will they watch

from? Will there

be refreshments?

A picnic lunch? A

Medal ceremony?

Decide exactly

what will happen on

your sports day. Make sure you put

your activities in

order. Look at

resource 7a for one

way to set it out.

You might have

your own ideas.

Support:Make your

plan using pictures.

Challenge:Can you

make a timetable?

You will need to

include what time

activities start and

how long you are

going to do them

for. resource 7b

Use your plan to

make a leaflet or

programme to let

everyone know about

what is going to

happen on your

sports day. See

resource 8 for an

idea of what yours

might look like. (I

know you’ll have

better ideas).Make

it as simple or

complicated as you

like, you could just

fold a piece of

paper, or you might

want to add more

pages or even make

a pop-up. See what

you can do!

Write a ‘to-do’ list.

Include all the

things you need to

get ready for

tomorrow.

Remember, a list

looks like this:

My things to do

list.

● Remember

to fill the

water

bottle.

● Put elastic

bands

around

socks.

● Air stinky

trainers.

Each new idea has a

bullet point and a new

line.It can be one

word or a whole

sentence.Give your list

a title.

Support: Make a

picture list. Add the

sounds you know to

help you write a word

for each picture.

Challenge: Use your

list to help you make

notes (you could use

post-its or scraps of

paper)to put by your

activities tomorrow.

It will help to make

sure that you do not

forget anything!

Sports day -Have

fun!

(Can you remember

last week’s report

writing? If you

wanted to you

could write a

report on your

day, either as a

newspaper report,

or as a diary

entry. Or you

could draw a

picture and write

a sentence to

describe the best

bit.)

Phonics

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday

Apostrophes

(Contractions)

You can use apostrophes to

show that you have

omitted (left out) some

letters when you are

joining words together.

For example, you can join

the words ‘you’ and ‘are’

together. You + are =

you're. The apostrophe

takes the place of the

removed letters. In this

example, the letter a.

Sometimes, however, you

need to rearrange the

letters a bit when you

contract the words. For

example: will + not = won't.
