New Planck clusters versus RASS survey
Completing RASS surveys
above z~0.3
• more sensitive than Reflex/Noras
• Complete MACS limited by sky coverage and BCS
• Find new massive disturbed clusters below RASS flux limit

Physics : sum of indv SZ signal ?; boosted by merger shocks? Contribution of
filaments ? ⇒ require deeper XMM observation
Cosmology: how many ? must we take SC in the ‘selection’ function?

PLANCK XMM-NEWTON
January 11, 2011 Monique ARNAUDPlanck 2011 conference
From Planck SZ results, on selected local subsample of 62 ESZ clusters with high
quality XMMNewton archival data and using the compilation of about 1800 Xray
clusters
⇒ excellent agreement between observed SZ quantities and Xraybased
predictions.
⇒ robustness and consistency of our overall view of IntraCluster Medium
properties.
⇒ close the long standing open question of the ‘missing’ hot baryons
From XMM validation follow-up of Planck cluster candidate
⇒ Planck may be detecting a population of dynamically perturbed clusters
underrepresented in Xray surveys
More on SZ-X ray scaling properties in next talks (scatter, evolution..)
Much deeper X-ray, optical (lensing) and SZ follow-up of Planck SZ clusters ..
