Quality Innovative Education in a
Caring Environment
Welcome to Jade Hayward and her
family. Jade joins us in Year 5.
Pete the Sheep Excursion: On Fri-
day 25 October, Tony drove our class to
Westport Park. We walked from the park
to town along the pathway around the wa-
ter. We saw a dolphin catching fish. The
wind was blowing strongly all day. Christopher’s hat got blown into
the water; Mrs Parker had to get it back. We ate our recess on
Town Green and then went to see Pete the Sheep at the Glass-
house. The show was good, amazing, excellent, interesting, fantas-
tic and great. Everybody laughed when
the sheep did a pretend poo and got
their really cool haircuts. After the show
we ate McDonald’s for lunch. In the af-
ternoon we went to the Port Macquarie
Museum and learnt about life as a convict
in Port Macquarie and other olden day
things. After the museum we ate soft
serves and Tony picked us up and drove
us back to school. We had an excellent
day and everyone had fun. Thank you to
Mrs Drage who also came with us. By K-2
Year 5 & 6 Health Day: Last Tuesday, Rollands Plains’ Year
5 & 6 drove to Huntington Public School to attend a health day and
to meet new friends for when we go to high school. We participated
in a variety of fun games and activities such as a game we had to
pick a new friend and write positive things about them. Everyone
loved the games that we all played during the day. Overall, every-
one had a great time. A special thank you to all of the people that
ran the day and made it special for us. By Harmony and Billy

Sports Day: Wow! What an amazing day our students behaviour was outstanding and
both the sportsmanship and enjoyment each student showed during all of the activities is
to be commended. We started our day at Putt Putt Golf with a few hole-in-ones quickly be-
ing played. Warren from the golf centre was so impressed with our students he has given
each student a discount card which is attached to this newsletter. The primary students
continued onto Lazer Zone and rock climbing. The infants went to Jumbo’s and played on
the giant slide, maze and in the ball pit only stopping occasionally to grab a quick drink. Af-
ter lunch, as a school, we went ten pin bowling. A few strikes where bowled, along with a
few spares and some great high scores. The highest score was Corie Scott with 99.
We all can’t wait to do it again in 2015.

Halloween Disco: On Friday 31 October, Rollands Plains had a Halloween Disco at the
Rollands Plains Hall.
When we all got there, there were many scary creature/monster costumes. The COOLEST
costumes were Jack S, Talisha, Ruby and Harmony. Jack was a ghost, Talisha was a ninja,
Ruby was a dark angel and Harmony was a devil and an angel. We had heaps of music going on
and on, but it wasn’t boring music - it was COOL music, and everyone was dancing and having
a great time.
We played some fun games as well. The first game we played was corners. Miss McLachlan
picked a corner and if you were standing in that corner you were out. Molly and Tristan won
the game. After that we danced for another twenty minutes. We played a game called heads
or tails. The person up on the stage had to flip a coin. If it landed on heads you had to put
your hands on your head and got to stay in, but if you had your hands on your tailbone you
were out.
When we finished the game we all just danced until the hall closed at 8:30pm.

2WAY FM Radio: On Tuesday 28th of October most of Rolland’s Plains School travelled
to Wauchope to run the School’s Out program for the 2Way FM radio station. When every-
one had arrived at the 2Way FM station we had a range of different pizza’s and drinks. Eve-
ryone thought it was delicious! After everyone ate some pizza and slurped on some drink we
started to practice doing our segments. Finally, it was time to go live! First was Molly and
Tristan with the opening segment/quiz, followed by news with Ruby, the weather with Billy
and the traffic with Corie. TV updates with Talisha, Ruby with handy hints, Charlotte and
Elise with poll time, community businesses with Taylor, Harmony with her fake advertise-
ment, Tristan and Molly with Christmas display, guess that song with Talisha, Charlotte and
Elise with their hilarious jokes and then strange but true with some of the K-2. Everyone
thought it was a blast! Ruby finished it off with the closing segments. Overall, everyone
loved all of it, especially the pizza and drinks and of course going live on the radio!
By Ruby and Elise.
Thank you to all of the parents who transported students to the radio station.
