VISITING MINISTRY & ROSARY– Saint Matthew Parish has numerous care facilities for the elderly within its boundaries. Please consider becoming a part of our Visiting Ministry and sharing a half hour of your time each week or every other week with someone who is lonely. If you are interested, please contact Carol Ann Lombardi at 614-478-4328 or [email protected]. We pray the Rosary for the elderly and infirm of the parish each month in the Adoration Chapel on the third Friday at 2:00 p.m. Please join us. This month’s Rosary will be this Friday, September 20.

Please return your Commitment Card to the Parish Office this week or in next week’s collection. If you have not yet done so, join the many others and give your gift online through our electronic giving program (www.stmatthew.net/giving). This play has been presented every 10 years since 1634 by the village of Oberammergau as a way of thanking God for sparing the village from the plague. Every stop on this tour is life-changing and breathtaking. For details, plan to attend an informational meeting on Sunday, October 13 in the St. Anthony Room at 11:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. or contact Jerusalem Tours at 614-501-6714 or [email protected].

CLERGY ABUSE CRISIS RESOURCE – Copies of Bishop Robert Barron’s pastoral letter “Letter to a Suffering Church” are available in the Parish Office. Bishop Barron speaks from the heart and urges us to “stand and fight” for the Church.

BACKUP CHILDCARE PERSON NEEDED FOR WALKING WITH PURPOSE – The Walking with Purpose (WWP) Thursday evening program is looking for a backup childcare person, 18 years or older, who has met the Protecting God’s Children requirements. Childcare is a very important part of the WWP program, as it allows mothers who want to participate more flexibility. You will serve as a backup in the event the regular two childcare people aren’t available. It is a paid position, $10.00 per hour, on Wednesday mornings from 9:15-11:00 a.m. or Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30 p.m. If you are able to serve as a backup, please let us know if you are potentially available for morning, evening, or either. If you are interested, please contact Paula Sewell at [email protected] or 740-350-1943. Also, although both the Wednesday morning and Thursday evening sessions have begun, women are welcome to join our programs at any time! Information about all of our studies is on our website, stmatthew.net/wwp. If you have questions about either of our programs, please contact Gina Sergio at [email protected] or 614-806-4356.

PROTECTING GOD’S CHILDREN SAFE ENVIRONMENT SEMINAR THIS WEDNESDAY – The Diocesan Safe Environment Compliance program requires that for an adult to interact with minors at the school/church, he/she must meet three requirements: attend a Protecting God’s Children class; have a background check performed and complete the code of conduct (attached to the volunteer application). The next Protecting God's Children class that St. Matthew will be hosting is this Wednesday, September 18 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the St. Anthony Room. As a convenience, Fast Fingerprints (a third party) will be on site from 5:00-6:00 p.m. to do background checks before the class starts. The background checks will stop once the class starts, so if you want to have your background check done that day, please plan to come early. The line can get pretty long. If you have already taken the PGC class and just need to have the fingerprinting done, please feel free to come to just the background check part. To register for the class, please visit https://www.stmatthew.net/protecting-gods-children.

We look forward to helping ease the pain and sorrow accompanied with your loss.

COOKIES NEEDED FOR KAIROS PRISON MINISTRY – Kairos baked cookies are needed for the upcoming prison ministry weekend. These cookies will represent at least three truths of the Christian life: God’s unending grace. They are a physical symbol of God’s grace, available to all believers (i.e. agape love); The power of Christian community. All Kairos cookies are home-baked, demonstrating that real people on the outside can see the inmates through the eyes of agape love and have prayed for the inmates while baking the cookies; Availability of forgiveness. You can imagine that God’s forgiveness and self-forgiveness are difficult to accept in a prison. ANY amount of baked cookies that you can offer would be appreciated. For questions or the guidelines for baking cookies, please contact Donato D’Alberto at 614-774-5123. Please drop off cookies at St. Matthew in the St. Anthony Room kitchen (look for the plastic bin) before Friday, September 27. Thank you for your generosity!

CUB SCOUT PACK 317 TO SELL POPCORN SEPTEMBER 28-29 – Our St. Matthew Cub Scout Pack 317 will conduct its popcorn sales after Mass the last weekend in September. The Scouts are raising money for a new aluminum high speed pinewood derby race track. If you do not have a favorite Cub Scout seller, please consider buying your popcorn from Pack 317. Cash, check, or credit will be accepted.

Salvation(8 sessions)

PARISH PROJECTSAs good stewards of your generosity, the Facilities Team is pleased to provide regular updates on St. Matthew campus projects, improvements, ongoing initiatives, and enhancements. The Facilities Team is developing a regular routine in support of the church and school. With the completion of our summer construction and cleaning initiatives, we are now focused on preventive maintenance, repairs and meticulous church cleaning schedules.Cleaning crews work every night to ensure the school is ready for our kids. The school LED conversion project is also being done at night to eliminate any disruption; it is now 40% complete. Our team covers parish maintenance, repairs and church housekeeping. Projects are currently being planned for school breaks and next summer. In the coming months, we will be sharing next year’s initiatives and how they are being prioritized. As the parish’s 60th anniversary approaches, we are busy deep cleaning the church and making sure our campus looks its very best. A special thanks to the many volunteers and support staff for making next weekend’s celebration a memorable event. Please plan to take part in all the food, fun and fellowship. We continue to consider all points of view on the final placement of our life-size marble angels located in the Adoration Chapel. A final decision has not yet been made.Work is progressing on the first two of four paintings which will replace the latticework above the altar. The two Archangel paintings on the right and left side are being completed in the artist’s studio. We hope to install them in early October. We appreciate this opportunity to provide these updates and welcome suggestions for facility enhancements. Please contact George Harvey at [email protected].
