Why is rabies important?

Rabies is entirely preventablethrough vaccination.

Rabies kills at least 55,000people annually, or one person

every 10 minutes. Rabies impacts animal health

and welfare.

Sustained elimination of dog-to-dog transmission of 

rabies has been demonstratedover large geographic areas.

The methodical use of proventechniques can lead to globalelimination of the major

source of human rabies.
