Awareness Walk on world Rabies Day 28th Sept 2014 2 Awareness Walk on World Rabies Day Awareness walk was arranged by The University of Agriculture Peshawar with the collaboration of Relief International Pakistan under the Livestock for Life project. Awareness walk was arranged on 28th September World Rabies Day. The objective of the activity was to raise awareness in the university students belonging from different departments that rabies disease are very much fatal and specially in our province KPK annually more than 10 thousands cases are registered of dog bite. The disease is 100 % fatal and round about 55 thousand deaths are on record worldwide. The disease is transmittable between humans and animals. Students from different departments of Agriculture University including Deans, Registrar, Professors, lecturers and librarians have participated in the awareness walk. , Dr Zakir Hussain Health Officer Relief International was also present at occasion & briefed the participants that it is a common effort for a noble cause. All the participants made a walk in the University and holding banners and awareness message distributed by Relief International. The slogan of the day wasPrevent the precious lives through your little efforts On the occasion, Dean Faculty of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Sciences (FAHVS) told that the disease is highly fatal in both senses either to loss our lives or economic point of view. He also high lights the role of other stake holders to come out against the highly infectious and communicable diseases. Dean FAHVS appreciated the efforts of RI in the prevention and creating awareness among the different walk of life from infectious and zoonotic diseases.
