Core Training for Investors in People Specialists

Workshop Outline

Background

This workshop has been designed to provide a thorough understanding of the Investors in People framework, its value to organisations and the journey from initial awareness to recognition and beyond. It is the starting point for development for new IIP Specialists.

Workshop Description

This three-day development experience will inspire and enthuse new, trainee Investors in People Specialists to actively encourage clients to identify their business issues and the links to Investors in People. They will have an understanding of the Investors in People framework and how it can assist clients to address these business issues. The workshop will start the developmental journey that will build their confidence through giving them the knowledge, practical experience and awareness of the behaviours required to become Investors in People specialists.

Investors in People journey Pre-requisites Training for Specialists is specifically about understanding and using the Investors in People Framework. It assumes knowledge and/or experience in the following areas and no further 'theory' will be taught. The core training will focus on the application of these in an Investors in People context.

• Management experience and knowledge of current HR practice

• Good and practiced interpersonal skills

• A range of practical skills including: o report writing, o presentation skills, o communication skills (written & verbal), o interviewing skills and experience; o project management ability and knowledge of different systems, o selling and influencing skills and knowledge of different approaches, o consultancy skills and knowledge of different methods, o feedback skills
