Thank you for taking the time to consider partnering and participating in the fourth annual Women Fore Pandas Golf Tournament presented by the Angus Watt Advisory Group and National Bank Financial. The Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation along with Athletics at the University of Alberta, have come together to develop an event to help raise funds for our female student-athletes. Over the past three years, this tournament has raised over $178,000, equating to 62 scholarships for our Pandas student-athletes. Funds raised help to alleviate the financial burden of female student-athletes and allows them to focus in the classroom and on the playing field. This unique women’s only tournament will take place on Wednesday, June 08, 2016 at 2 PM at The Links at Spruce Grove. A shot gun Texas Scramble format will allow 144 female (or more) golfers to take part in the event with a light lunch prior to tee-off and dinner/silent auction to follow.  Financial support is greatly needed each year, with our Pandas program only receiving roughly 40% in Athletic Financial Awards based on CIS restrictions. By creating special fundraising initiatives specifically directed at the Pandas Athletic Program, we can help close the gap between funding discrepancies between men and women athletics here at the University of Alberta.

The 2015 sold-out event was an unfounded success. The 149 golfers enjoyed in a great day - weather included - of golf, dinner and amazing prizes. Together, participants, donors and sponsors raised a total of $78,000. Once again the Women Fore Pandas Golf Tournament is partnering with the Green and Gold Athletics Society and the University of Alberta Provost’s Office in a matching program which could potentially see an additional $20,000 raised and given directly towards student-athlete scholarships for the University of Alberta Pandas

Our intention is to make an impact for Pandas student athletes in their quest for excellence in the classroom and on the playing field. By donating to this extraordinary event, you will help make this vision a reality. We hope you will be able to join us in supporting women in sport and physical activity through this great event.

“The Women fore Pandas Scholarship has given me the privilege to focus solely on my academics and athletics without the additional stress of financing university.

In my experience, there is no better way to grow and learn as a person than to be challenged alongside teammates and friends on the court and in the classroom. As I near the end of my time as a Panda I realize that this priceless opportunity for growth would not have happened for me without the support I have received along the way, and for this I am infinitely thankful.”

“Receiving a student athlete scholarship has alleviated some financial stress and enabled me to dedicate myself more fully to my training and education. Specifically, it allows me to focus my time outside of training on my research and coach-ing young athletes, which are crucial aspects of my program. It also maximizes my performance by helping me take care of my body through proper nutrition.”
