    Membership Drive Puts Event Focus on Member Referrals

    In August, the Wyoming-KentwoodArea Chamber of Commerce Boardof Directors challenged our staff,Board and Membership to sign atotal of 25 new members betweenSeptember 1 and November 30,2009 and the best way we knowto do that is by signing up yourmembership referrals.

    Between September 1 andNovember 30, the Chamber willoffer multiple opportunities for youto invite your potential memberguests to great low-cost to no-costnetworking events. (Check out theComing Events Box in the lower leftcolumns on this page).

    We're offering access to greatbusiness building benets and you

    can help us spread the word.

    Simply invite all of your businessacquaintances to attend one ormore of the free or nearly no costevents scheduled this fall andgive them a taste of ChamberNetworking and insight into someof the other business buildingopportunities available to ourmembers.

    The Chamber will have membershipinformation and applicationsat each event and will haverepresentatives on hand to discuss

    the potential growth and brandrecognition that can be accessed

    when they join. Get them to comeand we'll do all the work!

    I am very happy to announce some more great progresin our unending quest to enhance the value of yourChamber Membership! Five local Chambers of Commein the South Metropolitan area have elevated their levecollaboration.

    Metro South ChambersThe Grandville-Jenison Area

    Chamber, the Wyoming-KentwoArea Chamber, the HudsonvilleArea Chamber, Byron Center anCutlerville-Gaines Area Chambplanning a series of joint projecto create and encourage newopportunities for business in th

    respective areas. Were billing our joint efforts under thheading of the Metro South Chambers of Commerce have developed a logo for these programs.

    The Metro South Chambers logo is a fast way for us tolet our Members know that a particular workshop or

    other event is open to all participating Chambers. All othe Chambers in West Michigan and across the statecommunicate with each other regularly. We are blessehave 35 to 40 active and successful local Chambers inregion!

    The Metro South Chambers are next door neighbors thlocal, suburban Chambers. We have found that our Mbusinesses have asked for increased cooperation and tvalue this broader interaction enormously!

    focusing on those programs that create added busines

    Santa Parade Offers Business Building Opportunities

    There are at least two waysthe WKACC Division AvenueSanta Parade can help growyour business. Whether yourcustomers are other businesses

    or consumers, participation in theSanta Parade will put your name infront of hundreds of residents andbusinesses in the Wyoming andKentwood area.

    The Santa Parade Committeedistributes more than 10,000yers to local schools at the end of

    November to announce the paradeand those yers have the names

    of the event sponsors on them.There are also posters placed in

    businesses along the DivisionAvenue route with the names ofour sponsoring business on them.This distribution begins early inNovember.

    2010 Board Elections

    The Chamber needs your voteto choose our leadership for

    2010. Ballots are to be cast forapproximately one-third of theBoard members each year. Three-

    year terms of ofce begin in January

    each year.

    Ballots were mailed on September30, 2009. They were mailed toprimary contacts for each MemberBusiness.

    All completed ballots must bepostmarked no later than October

    13th. (Ballots may be dropped offat the Chamber Ofce until 5pm on

    Thursday, October 15th).

    Watch the NovemberAdvocatefor the results of the 2010 Boardof Directors Election and planto attend the Annual Meeting on

    January 29, 2010 to meet them.
