WhAT is The JAzz insTiTuTe of ChiCAgo?

The Jazz Institute of Chicago was founded in 1969 by a small band of jazz fans, writers, club owners and musicians who came together to preserve the historical roots of Chicago Jazz and to ensure that it would be heard and supported for generations to come. Our programs promote and nurture jazz in Chicago by:

• Supporting jazz education in and outside of schools by linking artists and students,

• Employing Chicago jazz musicians by creating a wide array of performance opportunities,

• Building bigger audiences for Chicago jazz by presenting concerts and festivals that are free and available for all,

• And keeping our community thriving—we reach over 150,000 people each year.

our Mission is simple: to promote and nurture jazz in Chicago.

hoW CAn you supporT JAzz in ChiCAgo? YOU are the Chicago in Jazz in Chicago! Your time, donations and presence at our events are what makes our organization work. You can help us sustain and expand our programs by doing one (or more) of the following:

Volunteer: We can’t do it without you! If you have the passion and time, we need you to help out at events, in the office and a wide assortment of other activities.

give: We are listener-supported by jazz lovers like you! Giving is easy: You can do it online, in person, or at our events, with a one-time contribution or an amount that is automatically contributed each month.
