But where is IE 11?!
Internet Explorer is included with Windows 10
For now…
Microsoft kind of hides it
Use Cortana, search for Internet Explorer, you will find Internet Explorer
11 hiding in the application list
Virtual Desktop/Task View
Windows 10 introduced a familiar Apple feature, Virtual Desktops
Allows for you to open and run multiple desktops, at the same time
You can also quickly navigate to and close open windows with Task View
Fun Hotkeys: - WINDOWS key + CTRL + D = new virtual desktop - WINDOWS key + CTRL + F4 = close virtual desktop - WINDOWS key + CTRL + left/right = cycle virtual desktops

Getting Prepared
Are Departments ready?
Are users ready?
Will my organization benefit from Windows 10?
Can IT support Windows 10?
Does your current/future hardware support Windows 10?
Are my organizations applications compatible?
Is the organization concerned with Cloud and Privacy?
Hardware Compatibility
Standardizing on hardware is pretty straight forward
Pick hardware that is popular, common, good reviews, and
Windows 10 is native
Most everything is Windows 10
Key Features to future proof
UEFI Version: 2.3.1 or Higher
TPM 2.0
Hardware Virtualization
Windows “Hello” (camera/finger print)
Hardware Cont.
What if we have old hardware that is standard and we want to
upgrde to Windows 10?
TEST TEST TEST TEST TEST TEST TEST TEST TEST TEST TEST TEST TEST
This can get expensive
If you are not standardized on old hardware
Probably not best to upgrade
Upgrade to Windows 10 as you replace old hardware

Application Compatibility
The IT Department should be pushing this project forward AND
including department stake holders
If you used Active Directory and Group Policy, make sure you are on
a version that supports Windows 10
Application Compatibility – How do we even start?
List out all applications by Department
IT does basic testing
Does it install? Is it support by the vendor on Win 10?
Gather Pilot users
Collect feedback from pilot users
Green light or red light by application
Application Compatibility – Issues you might face
Vendor doesn’t support that application
That application isn’t licensed for Windows 10
It cost money to…
Users don’t want Windows 10
Lack of training
Web Application Issues with Edge/Internet Explorer 11

pushing scripts
When does Windows 11 come out?
Microsoft has stated that there will not be a Windows 11 and that
Windows 10 is the last major Windows release
Microsoft is moving towards an iterative and cumulative update
release schedule
Updating Windows 10
How does your organization update Windows today?
WSUS – Windows Security Update Services
