A WORD FROM THE PRINCIPAL

I would like to congratulate our District athletics representatives and also the six students who participated in our GCOPS performance last week. Our school relay team is now off to represent Goulburn District at the Regional carnival. Good luck to Toby, Shkeira, Victoria and Sienna. Shkeira, Mia, Alaskah, Adelaide, Cooper and Jack sang and performed beautifully on the night. A lot of practice went into their performance beforehand. Thank you Ms Charnley for all your help. Next week we are celebrating Book Week. I love seeing the children dressed up. Our Year 6 students will be leading groups based on nominated picture books.

The following students are our winners for the last two weeks and have used (or will use) their voucher at recess buy-up:

Jeremy (K-2) and Adelaide (3-6)

GCOPS

The GCOPS concert was a very lovely night. All of the schools put in a lot of effort both during the day and at the night time performance. There were individual school items along with all schools combining together for the mass choir. Well done to all.

DISTRICT ATHLETICS The following students, Tobie, Joshua, Mia, Shkeira, Sienna, Charlie, Victoria, Toby and William had all progressed to the District Athletics Carnival on Friday the 2nd of August. They all did their very best and our relay team has made it through to the Regional District Athletics. Details to be advised soon.

What’s Happening in K - 2 Students in K-2 have started work in their new homework books. It has been wonderful to see students taking pride in the work they complete at home as well as what they do at school. Students may personalise the cover of their book using wrapping paper, contact, pictures or any other way they can think of. Last week we began learning about money and we set up a class shop for students to ‘buy’ items. Our year one and two students had a chance to be shop assistants and were great at working out the total of different items and the change that their ‘customers’ needed. Pictured to the left are students taking part in maths groups. We have also started learning about ‘Growth and Change’ in science. Last week the students thought of a question we could test to discover how seeds grow in different materials. We will be starting that experiment this week.

What’s Happening in 3 – 6

3 to 6 have been given their CWA poster assignment on Papua New Guinea. I’m looking forward to seeing the final results. They are also working on a History unit with Mrs Ball. Everyone is looking forward to our music lessons with Miss A and hopefully using the marimba this term. We will also be practicing our skipping before Jump Rope 4 Heart at Collector.
