I cropped out the second person that had been in the image, added a black rectangle around the title, and took out the ‘Who What Where When and Why’ questions in order to make the flier more streamlined. I also added the Vouant logo at the bottomand a black line at the edge of the page in order to make the cropping of his shoe less obvious.

DescriptionThis is a flyer explaining a positive aspect of winter to others.Date2/8/2014CourseCOMM130–Visual MediaInstructor Brother JudkinsProgramsPhotoshop, Adobe Bridge.ObjectivesLearn about Photoshop editing techniques.Learn the basics of using a DSLR camera. ProcessI used my DSLR camera to take several photos of branches with snow on them. I opened the photos in Bridge, and opened the one I liked best in Photosho. I used adjustment layers and a sharpen filter on the photo to achieve the effect I wanted. After that, I added the quotes and color swatches, and used shapes to keep the colors in one place. After the peer review, I added in the color scheme and the names of the colors.

Date3/29/2014CourseCOMM130–Visual MediaInstructor Brother JudkinsProgramsAdobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe IllustratorObjectivesThe objective of this project was to learn how to create and print a duplex brochure using the Adobe Suite. ProcessI chose a business to design a brochure for, and then I picked photos that matched what that business was selling. I used Illustrator to make a simply logo, and I used Photoshop to edit the photos as necessary. After the first group critique, I changed the indendation and font size, but left the color as white. I printed the brochure on the Spori Color Printer and used an exacto knife to trim the edges.

I used Office to lay out the image and shapes, and chose the fonts based on which would be appropriate for the event. I used a MS Office adjustment to edit the photo a little, in order to increase the saturation.

DescriptionA letterhead design for an independent graphic design and photography business.Date3/1/2014CourseCOMM130–Visual MediaInstructor Brother JudkinsProgramsAdobe InDesign, Adobe IllustratorObjectivesTo learn about InDesign and reach an audience of business majors. ProcessFirst, I made the logo in Adobe Illustrator, using the ellipse tool and the pathfinder tool, which let me divide the overlapping shapes and delete segments. It’s supposed to look like a rose and the lens of a camera at the same time. Then I opened it in Adobe InDesign. I got a lot of feedback at the critique, so I changed the background color of the business card from pink to green.

DescriptionThree logos designed for a cloud storage service, designed to appeal to people who know how to use computers and who would have a use for cloud services.Date2/22/2014CourseCOMM130–Visual MediaInstructor Brother JudkinsProgramsAdobe IllustratorObjectivesThe purpose of this project was to learn the basics of Illustrator including the pen tool, type, and outlines. ProcessI played around with the pen and shape tools for a while until I made the cloud and raindrop tools. The first logo is the only one left from the critique, because the other two were similar, and my group really liked the simplicity of the top logo. I designed the other two logos using Illustrator on Friday, using the type tool, shape tool, pen tool, and eyedropper tool.

ProcessI learned the basics of HTML and CSS, including shortcuts. I used the w3school website to get more CSS codes, such as how to change the color of my links. I also went to my instuctor for help with the links. After the group critique, I changed the look of my webpage (previously, the h1 title had been white and green, and the background had been black) and added a photo to showcase the photography business I was displaying.
