• We are keen to monitor the impact of the work we do and learn if these interventions make a difference

• Monitoring and evaluating what we do allows us to continue to provide and improve upon initiatives like this

Icebreaker – People Bingo

• You need to move around the room asking new people questions to try and find who matches the quality listed on your bingo card

• You need to write down their name and the college/sixth form they attend

Rules:

• You can’t ask yourself

• You can’t just ask people you know

Let us know that you are interested in a Degree

Apprenticeship.

Register at: mmu.ac.uk/apprenticeships

Step 2: Look

Visit our website, employer’s websites and come along to an

open evening.

Peak application time = March - June

Step 3: Apply

Processes vary but usually involve a CV and cover letter

or online application form. You may also have to attend an

assessment centre and interview.

Step 4: Success

Congratulations! You’ve got the job. You’ll sign a contract with your new employer setting out the terms of the apprenticeship

Step 5: Enrol

Complete your university application and enrol onto your

course. This usually takes place a few months before you start

Step 6: Begin!

Apprenticeships usually start with an induction week, where you’ll get an introduction to the course

and meet other apprentices

What is a CV?

A personal marketing tool (your shop window) to attract future employers

An opportunity to sell your key skills, achievements, character & work experience

Your first contact with an employer –it is your chance to make a good first impression

Employers use CVs as a tool to assess candidates in the recruitment process

A well written CV could be the difference between getting an interview and not being considered

How should my CV look?

Presentation – Remember the 4 C’s!

• Clear and personable to you

• Be Consistent throughout – spelling and grammar

• Be Concise – no longer than two sides of A4

• Coherent – use simple but enthusiastic language which is easy to read

CV Language:

• Language should be professional and skills focussed

• Duties – don’t just list, reflect and talk about your transferrable skills

• Easy to understand – don’t use big words

• Highlighting skills that are specific to the role as well as transferable skills will have a greater impact

Work experience – placements, voluntary, part time jobs
