At 230 years old, Corney & Barrow is one of the longest established Independent Wine Merchants in the uk. Their aim is to offer carefully-selected, honestly-priced wines that not only deliver quality and value for money, but great pleasure; wines which are the best examples of their style, country, region or sub-region.

We also offer an extensive selection of malt whiskies, local beers and spirits.

Ten Hill Place Hotel is owned by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and all profits from 10 Wine Bar and the Hotel are invested back into supporting the activities of the college, and its Fellows and Members around the world.

A blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tannat, this has a raspberry pink colour, with intense and bright summer berry characters. The palate is ripe, soft and juicy, but retains delicacy and finesse thanks to refreshing acidity.

Fresh fruit, such as apricot and peach on the nose; soft floral flavours on the palate and a refreshing, pleasantly smooth finish.

This is a light and immediately welcoming sparkling rosé, with a raspberry and peach fruit character, a fine mousse and a clean and uplifting floral nose.

A pale, lightly aromatic and easy-drinking sparkling wine, with a soft mousse and an off-dry feel. Gentle flavours of pear, clementine and white apple are lifted by soft acidity. The perfect aperitif wine and ideal for celebrations!

Blended from 50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier, this is marked by it,s pleasant freshness, it’s fullness and clean, fruity finish. A lovely light gold colour,with great purity on the nose, along with notes of citrus, white flowers, lemon peel and moss.

A blend of Colombard and Ugni Blanc from Gascony, South West France. Fermented at low temperatures, to maximise primary fruit flavours, this has aromas of lemon, green apple and hints of stone fruit. The palate is vibrant and zesty with Gascony’s hallmark fine acidity and refreshing citrus finish. This is an infinitely versatile dry white – appetizing on its own but with the class to partner food.

Invitingly fruity, offering a juicy citrus and gooseberry backbone overlaid with notes of fresh green apples.

An intense, fresh bouquet of acacia blossom and ripe tropical fruit, with subtle brioche notes and flavours of peaches and cream on the palate. This wine is elegant and full-bodied with rare length - not your average Pinot Grigio!

Lively and crisp, avoiding the big, oily texture of many a Viognier, and focusing instead on the flavours of apricot and pineapple, and delicate floral aromas.

Stone fruit, vanilla spice and peach aromas are enhanced by the creamy, juicy, ripe fruit on the palate. A super fresh, easy drinking wine!

Often described as the Muscadet of the South, this Domaine Picpoul has a lovely fresh, creamy, yeasty nose, and whilst it has a minerally, dry mid-palate, fruit is not neglected. The predominant flavours are citrus, lemon and lime.

Pale gold in colour. The nose is rich and complex with warm peachy notes, white flowers, almond and marzipan. The palate is highly textured with layers of ripe pear, cream and wet stone and there is a pure acidity to lift on the finish.

Pale lemon with green flashes. An intense blend of asparagus and cut grass on the nose. The palate is beautifully balanced and fresh with good fruit flavours, herbaceous notes and a stoney minerality. The finish is long and rich.

From the cool climate Adelaide Hills, this beautiful Chardonnay gets better with each vintage. It’s a gorgeously subtle white wine with a core of lemony fruit and just a hint of very smart, powdery oak.

Pale golden colour and a youthful citrus nose with spring blossom nuances. The palate is fresh and harmonious, with nicely focused fruit character and a lingering stony texture on the finish.

72% Sauvignon Blanc and 28% Semillon with parcels of each fermented in French oak. A rich, complex wine that always has layers of flavour coupled with mouthwateringacidity. Incredibly serious food wine, whilst vibrant enough to serve chilled as an aperitif.

A blend of Carignan, Grenache and Merlot from Languedoc-Roussillon, this has vibrant red fruit and spices on the nose. Mouth-watering and structured on the palate, with silky tannins, ripe fruit, and a long lasting finish.

Dark ruby colour. Aromas of red fruits, berries, dark cherries and cassis mix here with sweet vanilla and coconut notes. This is a medium-bodied wine, ripe yet fresh, with soft

A classic grape of the northern Rhone, deep in colour with spicy, peppery fruits, ripe and full on the palate, smooth and full-bodied.

A Reserva wine must legally see a minimum of 36 months in cask or bottle with minimum 12 months in cask. This wine spent 12 months in French (60%) and American (40%) oak barriques before bottling to add body and spice, with a further 2 years bottle ageing to soften tannins and add complexity. Spicy plum and damson fruit aromas on the nose, with toffee, sweet spice and bramble fruit on the palate.

This Malbec is bright cherry red with a violet hue. It shows intense aromas of ripe, redsummer fruit, herbs and dark chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied, rounded yet fresh with soft, supple tannins.

A medium-bodied Pinot Noir with a velvety textured palate brimming with ripe cherry and strawberry fruits laced with vanilla, leading to a rounded finish..

Ruby red in colour with tints of violet, the Roccastella has an intense aroma of ripe red fruit with some delicate spice and balsamic notes. The palate shows juicy red fruit character with some savoury flavours and soft tannins – very typical of the Montepulciano grape from this area.

An elegant wine that shows strong varietal character with rich, intense aromasof cherries, plums and dark spices. Flavours of ripe summer fruits, liquorice and chocolate are rounded off by well balanced, smooth tannins.

Purple-pink in colour with a bright nose of spicy ripe plum and cherry. Finely structured and elegant on the palate, with juicy, forest fruit and cinnamon spice flavours.

The practice of blending a white grape (Viognier) with a red one stems from the Rhône Valley. The idea is that even a splash of aromatic Viognier gives lift, perfume and approachability. This is the perfect illustration – a burly, spicy plum-infused Shiraz lent finesse by Viognier.

Another fantastic malt from Macallan, this fantastic whisky is finished in Sherry casks to give it a rich and sweet taste.

From the world famous Glemorangie stills comes this special 18 year old malt. It will not disappoint!

A lovely whisky from Lowland distillers Glenkinchie,this special malt has tastes of sweetness and a warm nuttiness that will satisfy any whisky connoisseur.

Made with organic Scottish barley, and as you would expect from the region a lightly peated malt maturedin bourbon casks.

Nicknamed “whisky island”, Islay produces very peaty, smoky malts, resulting in strong, dry whisky. The strong character of these whiskies can mean they are quite polarizing, and those who enjoy them do so with a passion!

Said to be the smokiest, most peated whisky in the world, Ardbeg is a tipple of polarity: opening with tangy citrus flavours, it then develops into smokey, toasted notes of coffee and liquorice.

This is a great starting point for anyone wishing to start their journey into Scotch whisky. The flavours of oak, honey and toffee round out this light, balanced malt.

As is common for Islay whiskies, Bunnabhain opens with smoky fruit and nut flavours that produce a sweet, lingering finish.

Laphroaig comes on strong with smoke and seaweed on the nose. The palate is sweet and a little salty, with waves of peat washing out to a lasting finish. Savour it neat or with a splash of water to allow the flavours to open up.

As the only single malt whisky made on the isle of Skye, Talisker whisky was a favourite of the Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson. The 10 year old tipple has intense flavours of dried fruits and barley-malt, accompanied by the characteristic smokiness.

Lowland whiskies are lighter, softer, and more understated than other regions. There are only three distilleries in the lowlands, and we have decided to offer two of these at 10 Wine Bar.

Whisky made on the Scottish isles (apart from Islay) have a heavier peat than highland whiskies, but are softer and sweeter than the peated whiskies of Islay.

Aged in ex-Bourbon and Sherry casks, this whisky has gentle spice with a little vanilla, and a dry, warming finish. A beautiful tasting whisky for such a young age.

Glen Moray use ex bourbon barrels sourced from North America to mature Glen Moray and these produce a whisky with rich and spicy characteristics. These casks deliver a superior product that has a smooth and well-rounded taste.

This whisky has certainly deserved its title as“the World’s Most Awarded Single Malt Scotchwhisky”; its characteristic fruity opening givesway to butterscotch, cream and oaky notes.

In a remote part of the Highlands the Glenlivetdistillery produces whisky using water from thenatural spring “Josie’s Well”, resulting in a smooth, bright gold malt with strong flavours ofpineapple and a nutty finish.

The original expression of Glenmorangie’s extensiverange, this delicate spirit is distilled in Scotland’s tallest stills. Initial hints of vanilla give way to a burst of flowery fruitiness, a clean aftertaste with hints of orange and peach.

Almost half of Scotlands distilleries are located within the Speyside region. The sweetest of all Scottish whisky malts, and subdivided into two main categories; the heavy, sherry-flavoured malts, and the lighter, complex fruitymalts.

Whiskies from the largest whisky-producing region in Scotland can take a variety of forms, but aregenerally less peated than for example Islay Whiskies.

Originally brewed not 100 yards from here, Knops have re-created this intensely dark beer which has it’s own place in Edinburgh’s dark history. With notes of chocolate, coffee, aniseed, liquorice and grapefruit.

A Belgian-style wheat beer brewed with oats, orange peel and coriander to give it a soft yet distinctive taste. Ask for a slice of orange with it to further compliment the flavours

Inspired by the story of a drayman’s happy accident with a delivery of beer in Musselburgh just nearby, this brisk beer has notes of caramel, toffee and cocoa, with a smooth dry finish.

This style of beer was originally crafted to slake the thirst of miners during the Californian gold rush. It’s hand crafted in small batches with the very best of ingredients. Light toffee notes followed by a lingering secondary bitternesshit that is refreshing rather than overwhelming.

A traditional Pale Ale, made hoppy and strong to withstand the high temperatures of long journeys around the world to Britain’s far flung colonies, this offers refreshing citrus notes well balanced by the smooth honeyed malt backbone.
