NYS DOT Simulator Project…in the beginning

• Doron contacted NYS DOT to discuss possibility of our training of rural bus operators.

• We first met Paul Ouderkirk about four years ago.

The Need

• Paul almost instantly saw the need and began his investigation.

• We discussed how several other transit systems had successfully integrated simulation into operator training.

• The RTAP Advisory Committee evaluated the responses of those trained

• The Committee determined that the 400 System was the best choice for the rural transit systems at this time.

How Can the Smaller Systems Benefit?

• We once again deliberated over the most effective way to deliver the training to rural transit systems.

MOBILE SYSTEMS

The Deal

• NYS DOT made an arrangement with BC Transit to reimburse them for the purchase of the simulator system.

• The system will be relocated several times each year for training RTAP grantees.

• The simulator system will be based at BC Transit.
