WEEKLY NEWSLETTER - 22nd November 2019 N°10 Theme of the Week Ahead Christ the King 1 Timothy 6:13-15 In the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made a good confession, I charge you to keep the commandment without spot or blame until the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about at the right time - Christ who is blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords. Chaplaincy News Last week parishioners from St. John's Normanton and St. Joseph's Pontefract joined our Youth SVP group for afternoon tea. Our guests were entertained with singing and dancing and there was, of course, the obligatory game of bingo! The students made our guests feel very welcome and were great ambassadors of our school. Safeguarding – Working together to keep children safe #keepingchildrensafeineducation #oursaferschools #safeadult The Safeguarding team at St Wilfrids provide help, advice and guidance to parents and pupils. We work with a number of agencies in school that provide confidential services to our school community. The School Nurse Service – School nursing offer a drop in service pupils every Monday lunchtime in Meeting Room 1. The school nurse service offers advice and guidance on keeping healthy, immunisations, emotional health, weight management, sexual health, drugs and alcohol. The service is provided by a qualified school nurse or specialist community public health nurses. Pupils can use the drop-in service or be referred for a private appointment through the safeguarding Team. Education Welfare – Our Education Welfare Officer is Deborah Barker. She can be contacted on 01977 691000 ext 290 Wednesday and Thursday. Education Welfare advise parents on their rights and responsibilities regarding school attendance. We can also signpost to other services were families need welfare advice. The Education Welfare main office contact number is 01924 307451. Catholic Care – We have two Catholic Care workers, Graham Robertson and Sharon Wicks. They are in school three days a week. Catholic Care offer school-based counselling to support children and young people with mental health issues. Police Liaison Officer – Our school Police Liaison Officer is PC 649 Michael Battye. He is typically in school on Wednesday mornings and can be contacted using the following by email: [email protected] or by Mobile: 07590 356862.
