THE FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING(YEAR B) 22nd November, 2015 We support the endeavours of the Royal Commission to bring healing to the victims of abuse. Church's website: www.facingthetruth.org.au REFLECTION: What a sad week it has turned out to be! Our hearts, prayers and thoughts go out to the French people at this time and specifically the community in Paris. In retaliation the French Government continue to bomb sites in Syria under ISIL control—I have a hunch many more innocent people have died because of that reaction. What to do? How to react! When modern terrorists enter into civilian life and where the possibilities of any negotiations (formal or informal) are unable to take place, how can unarmed people and civil societies respond to such indiscriminate slaughter. I cannot get my head around this new form of warfare that we are experiencing in the modern era. I pause and pray like many people for a clear solution to this problem of such hatred by some people towards a modern society that I have grown to love. I am confident that good will always triumph over evil. But by crikey it is hard to see this at the present moment. Today’s Gospel is the Feast of Christ the King, the last weekend of our Liturgical Year! Next week begins for us the new year with the start of Advent leading to Christmas. From today’s Gospel we can draw comfort with the clear expression that Jesus is Lord and Master and King of all creation. Historically, for your information, in 1925 Pope Pius X1 decided to throw down the gauntlet to the hostile powers of the world. He established the Feast of Christ the King to led the world know where ultimate authority lay. Almost 100 years later after this declaration after World War 1 and before World War 2 it is still good to remind us of this news that Jesus is Lord. I hope this next week gets better! Michael R.C.I.A ~RITE OF ACCEPTANCE Having completed their initial Time of Enquiry in our RCIA group, Michelle Crook, Rodrigo Cantilla, Jasmine Koh, Alice Wright & Natasha Hughes have discerned and decided they wish to continue experiencing the Catholic Tradition. At the 10.30 Mass on Sunday, they will formalize this decision in the Rite of Acceptance LET’S WARMLY WELCOME TO THESE NEW FRIENDS INTO OUR HOLY TRINITY COMMUNITY. Year of Mercy starting in December There will be many activities throughout 2016 for us to participate in and it’s a great opportunity to open our heart to God’s mercy and compassion that is endless! REFLECTION: What a sad week it has turned

out to be! Our hearts, prayers and thoughts go out

to the French people at this time and specifically

the community in Paris. In retaliation the French

Government continue to bomb sites in Syria under

ISIL control—I have a hunch many more innocent

people have died because of that reaction. What to

do? How to react!

When modern terrorists enter into civilian life and

where the possibilities of any negotiations (formal

or informal) are unable to take place, how can

unarmed people and civil societies respond to such

indiscriminate slaughter. I cannot get my head around this new form of warfare that we are experiencing

in the modern era. I pause and pray like many people for a clear solution to this problem of such hatred by

some people towards a modern society that I have grown to love. I am confident that good will always

triumph over evil. But by crikey it is hard to see this at the present moment.

Today’s Gospel is the Feast of Christ the King, the last weekend of our Liturgical Year!

Next week begins for us the new year with the start of Advent leading to Christmas.

From today’s Gospel we can draw comfort with the clear expression that Jesus is Lord and Master and King

of all creation. Historically, for your information, in 1925 Pope Pius X1

decided to throw down the gauntlet to the hostile powers of the world. He established the Feast of Christ

the King to led the world know where ultimate authority lay. Almost 100 years later after this declaration

after World War 1 and before World War 2 it is still good to remind us of this news that Jesus is Lord. I

hope this next week gets better! Michael

R.C.I.A ~RITE OF ACCEPTANCE

Year of Mercy starting in December There will be many activities throughout 2016 for us to participate in and it’s a great opportunity to open our heart to God’s mercy and compassion that is endless! See back page for an option.

Our Christmas tree will be placed at the back of the Church next week- laden with tags with suggestions for gifts. Store Vouchers and movie tickets (which can also be purchased at a cheaper price at some newsagents) are ideal, as they are suitable for most ages. Gifts for men hand towels, face washers, socks or toiletries- deodorant, razors and shaving gel. We are grateful for your continuing support

FETE What a fantastic day we had last Saturday for the St Peter's Fete. God blessed us with a wonderful day and a terrific crowd, giving us a great sense of community and fun. At this stage we have a profit of around $38,000 which is a great result. Events like this don't 'just happen’, months of planning went into it and countless hours spent by a number of people before, during and after. We thank everyone involved; the stall holders, the volunteers, those who baked cakes and scones and served on our stalls.

Special Thanks must go to Shane and Aprille Thiedeman, who have co-ordinated our Fete for 10 years, with such dedication and enthusiasm. They are our quiet achievers, great organisers,

giving so generously of their time and energy, we are very grateful to both of them. Also thanks to Peter Yeates, Rob Smith and Tim Courtney (3 men who have been the heart and soul of the fete for years) and the fantastic team of workers who helped set up, pack up and clean up Trish Ticca (and her team – counting and banking), Donna Jemetta (co-ordinating the volunteers), all Fete Committee Members, Parents & Friends Association, St. Vincent de Paul, Parishioners and School and Parish staff & Father Michael.

1st Anniversary Remembrance:

Gospel John 18: 33-37 ‘Are you the king of the Jews?’ Pilate asked. Jesus replied, ‘Do you ask this of your

own accord, or have others spoken to you about me?’ Pilate answered, ‘Am I a Jew? It

is your own people and the chief priests who have handed you over to me: what have

you done?’ Jesus replied, ‘Mine is not a kingdom of this world; if my kingdom were of

this world, my men would have fought to prevent my being surrendered to the Jews.

But my kingdom is not of this kind.’ ‘So you are a king then?’ said Pilate. ‘It is you who

say it’ answered Jesus. ‘Yes, I am a king. I was born for this, I came into the world for

this: to bear witness to the truth; and all who are on the side of truth listen to my voice.’

Walking into Mercy: Opening of the Local ‘Door of Mercy’ - Sunday, 13 December, 2:30pm Everyone is invited to come on a pilgrimage to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, where a special holy door of mercy will be opened by Archbishop Denis Hart to mark the beginning of the Year of Mercy. Groups from parishes and schools are especially encouraged to offer the work as a sign of solidarity with those in most need of God’s mercy. We remember especially those suffering in our midst and beyond—the weak, the stranger, the refugee, the asylum seeker—and use this opportunity to bear witness as a community to God’s endless mercy and compassion. Following the opening of the door of mercy, Archbishop Hart will lead a prayer service and commissioning. Gather your family, friends, fellow parishioners, students and classmates and make a real dayof it! Pilgrims are invited to bring a photo or memento of someone who has been merciful to them, and place it on a special ‘wall of mercy’ upon arrival at the Cathedral. Full details of the program will be made available closer to the date. Details: www.cam.org.au/evangelisation
