This week at Camp Ilan we had the best first week ever! From the opening

house where we met our amazing campers to jumping all day at WOOHOO! and doing

crazy activities, it was always a blast! We cant wait for the rest of the summer

with you guys!

WOW! Has it really already been a week? I am so happy to say

that this week was a blast. With a carnival, trip to WooHoo,

swimming, sports, art, music, drama, and much more, this has been a first week to remember.

The campers made so many new friends and had the best time

with their new counsellors. This year, the theme at Camp Ilan is

'Role Models and Heroes'. We are learning about many different Jewish leaders in history and

learning many important lessons from these people. This week we

focused on the importance of happiness. Watching video clips from Patch Adams and writing nice things to one another to

make each other happy, are just a few of the things we do at Camp

Ilan to emphasize the importance of happiness to our campers. I think though, that

just being here does the trick :) Shabbat Shalom

???????????????Balak, king of Moav, is afraid of Am Yisrael, so he sends people to call Bilam, the magician.prophet, to curse Am Israel. Now what do you think, if Bilam is a prophet doesnt he know that Hashem wouldnt let him curse Israel? But he asks, and Hashem answers You shouldnt go with them and you will not curse them because they are blessed . Again Balak asks Bilam to join him and this time Hashem lets Bilam go but you will only say what I tell you to say. Interesting. Now Bilam takes the donkeyy and Hashem is mad at him. But didnt he just give him permission to go?? What;s going on here? Hashem is like the parent and Bilam is the child. Even thought he child knows the answer they still ask the parent for permission; so Bilam asks and he got an answer and asks again and finally Hashem allows him to go but with boundaries, he even sends an angel to show Bilam his unhappiness towards his going but yet he ill allows it. So kids, listen to your parents - they usually have the right answers. And parents - dont block your children, sometimes they will make mistakes but it is still important for their growth. Shabbat Shalom! -

Next up: CIT!! This week we started the amazing CIT program! on Thursday we held a carnival for the younger bunks and it was fanta stic! We had face painting, apple bobbing, inflatables,

balloon shaving, cotton candy and much more! We are so excited for the rest of the summer and all the great things we are going to do!
