Aims:

• To encourage students to use analytical and critical thinking.

• To help students practise presentation skills.

Process:

• After you put your students in groups of two or three, you introduce them to the task. You first explain to them that they need to produce a plan of action for a day trip to London. The trip will include them making arrangements for transportation to London and back, where to eat while in London and which places to visit. They need to have in mind the British customs and culture when they make those arrangements and take into consideration their classmates’ dietary information e.g. vegetarianism. You also need to highlight that they need to find all the information online.

• You need to ask your students if they have any experience with delivering presentations. If so ask them to tell you one thing that was good about their presentation and one thing that they can improve upon. To help them improve you can suggest sites where they can take the information on how to deliver good presentations.

• You need to provide your students with the vocabulary you think they may need.

• I suggest you give the students a week to prepare for their assignment.

• During that week the students can email you any questions or can book a tutorial with you if they need extra help.
