Gurian, who is a marriage and family counselor and the New York Times bestselling author of 28 books, including The Wonder of Boys, The Wonder of Girls, Boys and Girls Learn Differently, Lessons of Lifelong Intimacy, and Leadership and the Sexes , will discuss the ways in which boys and girls learn and how we can support them to do their best. The event is free and open to the public. Space is limited and registration is required . The following week, on Thursday, October 27, at 6:45 pm, Annie Wright and its new Girls’ Business and Entrepreneurship Program will sponsor the documentary Generation Startup at The Grand Cinema . The film takes us to the front lines of entrepreneurship in America, capturing the struggles and triumphs of six recent college graduates who put everything on the line to build startups in Detroit. Directed by Academy Award winner Cynthia Wade and award-winning filmmaker Cheryl Miller Houser, the film celebrates risk-taking, urban revitalization and diversity. The film is open to the public and tickets are free on a first-come, first-served basis at The Grand one hour before the show.
