ia Cori’s Tacos Celebrates their 3rd Anniversary this May 2013. Tia Cori’s Tacos has reached a new milestone in overall customer satisfaction,
the 2013 Customer Satisfaction Award! Through hard work and commitment, the entire Tia Cori’s Tacos team has achieved a huge victory with a 5 star rating. A family owned and operated Mexican Taquería/Restaurant in the heart of downtown Daytona Beach, is getting ready to celebrate their third year in operation at their location across from the News-Journal Center on Beach Street on Saturday, May 4th. Boasting “An Authentic Taste of Mexico” as their motto, this taquería now celebrates 3 years of hard work and service to the Daytona Beach area. Co-owners, Ovi & Corina Ortiz and Ben & Kelly Parra, along with their families, opened the taqueria with an idea to offer a unique style of Mexican cuisine. A taqueria is a restaurant (tacos shop) which specializes in Mexican cuisine such as burritos, tacos, flautas, enchiladas, tamales, and numerous other foods. Originally, the term “taqueria” was used to refer to street vendors in Mexico, although the term has come to be used more generally to refer to this sort of establishment. Mexican cuisine is incredibly diverse and complex, which means that the menu at Tia Cori’s Tacos varies widely. Outside of Mexico, many taquerias offer cuisine which has been altered to meet regional tastes; here in Daytona Beach, our focus is on the cuisine from Guanajuato. Extremely popular items such as burritos and tacos are most commonly known to be served at taquerias. These two Mexican foods are easy to make, and versatile, and constructed at the time of ordering from fresh ingredients. Tia Cori’s tacos offers a large and varied menu and they

also cater to specific customer requests by offering variations to menu items such as veggie options. Tia Cori’s is a very unique restaurant with the selection of most items are ala carte’, a lot of mexican restaurants offer free chips and salsa, usually from a bag and a jar. Not so at Tia Cori’s, every item from the taco chips, sauces even the salsa is made from scratch in-house daily. This kind of attention is what authentic mexican food from a taqueria is about. Tia Cori’s Tacos also offers daily specials highlighting and showcasing a variety of the wonderful authentic Mexican dishes such as tamales, tortas and chiles rellenos to name a few. If you happen to be in Daytona Beach, make sure to stop by Tia Cori’s Tacos where you are sure to enjoy a treat, a real taste of Mexican cuisine. The atmosphere is customer focused, there is indoor and outdoor seating, offering food to go as well. You can also enjoy a celebration of Mexican culture in the form of live mariachi music performing on Friday evenings both outdoors and indoors while customers enjoy their food. To ensure the “Authentic Taste of Mexico”, they prepare family recipes, handed down from generations. Tia Cori’s Tacos is open Monday-Thursday 11a.m. - 10 p.m, and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. They are closed Sundays to allow the staff to spend time with their families.

any cities in Florida act as a crossroads of cultures and tastes, yielding eclectic menus. On the border of Ormond and
Daytona, across the street from the Atlantic Ocean, The Black Sheep Pub and Eating House serves as home to a very friendly, happy family and staff. True to its name The Black Sheep embraces cultures overlooked by the latest trends and haute cuisines, but the menu and daily specials demand attention. The flavors reflect the humble, yet creative roots of the owners and the chef who come from worlds far apart. Both, never the less, value nurturing home cooking and satisfying comfort foods. Here London, England meets Owensboro, Kentucky, as owners Eddie and Jacquie Lipman work beside Chef Leland Sanders to create a unique dining experience. Eddie and Jacquie came to Florida long ago, but they have maintained a keen eye to the flavors and character of their english roots. Neither have lost their

personal English flair. Should Eddie grace a table with one of his trademark jokes or wild tales, a server may be necessary for translating his English. The chef is just as likely to venture out of the kitchen to seek comments or requests, and is just as capable of straining ears with his Kentucky drawl. Leland came to florida far more recently and quite unexpectedly to care for family. Upon arrival and without a plan, Leland walked into The Black Sheep for a job, as casually clad as Eddie. He immediately became a central part of the family due to his passion and his well-rounded cooking experience. Somehow Eddie and Leland manage not only to understand each other, but also to challenge expectations and to delight all who join the restaurant for sustenance, libations and entertainment. Just one step into The Black Sheep transports diners into Eddie’s ideal world: an East London pub, where dark wood and deep red environs set the stage for serious socializing over pints. Over forty draft beers and a large selection of import & domestic bottled beers, wines and a large liquor collection neatly decorate a wrap-around bar. Eddie recalls the true purpose of the pub life. This is a place to reconnect with fellow man. To flex one’s vocal chords with the art of conversation. Wednesday nights in particular, are a time for fervent camaraderie. The locals arrive in great parties to partake in happy hour all night long while they play group trivia. With an appreciation for the quaint beach lifestyle and simple pleasures, even an ordinary afternoon or evening has the potential for special memories and new friendships. Diners can always count on the classic English dishes and standard American fare on the menu. The most delectable treats appear in the daily specials and homemade soups. They are ever-changing expressions of the family’s personal cravings, which they are eager to share. Every meal is an invitation to passing travelers and locals to join The Black Sheep family.
