Mediterranean

Experience

editerranean Experience has been declared a locals favorite for delicious food and now entertainment. Chef Nasi Agheli has brought live

music for his patrons to enjoy. They have open mic on Wednesday nights and Friday nights where you can test your musical skills. Friday nights also feature a local talent night, where local song writers and musicians play from 7pm to 10 pm. Joe Atti is the host of the entertainment and offers free guitar lessons from 6pm to 7pm before the show. So all of you parents that have young, aspiring musicians, bring them in for free lessons. There are many wonderful artists that play their compositions and music. Most are unknown local talents, but who knows, the next Jimmy Buffet could be the next person to sing. They also have jazz and cover musicians that play almost everyday. A visit to Mediterranean Experience is a culinary trip that will tantalize your taste buds with a unique selection of Mediterranean food and gourmet pizza. Chef Nasi invites you to come enjoy his delicacies, many that he created himself or added his personal touch. He has been an accomplished Chef since 1982 and worked for many notable restaurants in the area. Nasi has been a resident of Daytona since 2003. He opened Mediterranean Experience in December of 2008. Chef Nasi expanded the dining area next door to create Med Express, a gourmet express lunch room that features lunches to eat in or to go in 10 minutes or less, from 11 am to 3 pm. Everything is top quality, prepared fresh daily, not plain old buffet food. The Hot Bar menu changes daily, so you always have great selections. On the Cold Bar, they have fresh Salads with your choice of Chicken Salad or Tuna Salad as toppers and homemade dressings. They also feature homemade desserts, pastries and coffees. Med Express will soon feature a full service gourmet bakery with fresh baked breads, delightful desserts, pastries and cookies to enjoy with their gourmet coffee selections. The pastries and coffees are available at lunchtime as well. Med Express has the same delicious food and gourmet pizza on the menu that you can enjoy next door at the original Mediterranean Experience. The new dining room has wall murals that are painted in such a way, that you feel like

dining out guide!you are dining in a Mediterranean Courtyard, warm, fresh and appealing to the eye. The original dining room at Mediterranean Experience is a quaint, warm bistro style restaurant that has a beautiful view of the Halifax river. You can dine upstairs for an even more spectacular view of the river front. As you walk in, the pungent aromas of garlic and spices flood your senses. Soft jazz fills the air as you are seated. The very pleasant staff caters to your needs. You will be delighted with the menu. It has many selections and at very affordable prices. The most expensive entree on the menu is $22.00 for the Zuppa De Pesco, an Italian feast of jumbo shrimp, sea scallops, ocean clams, mussels, calamari and strips of atlantic salmon in a roasted garlic, basil marinara with crushed red peppers, then seasoned to your taste. Most all of the menu items are in the $5.00 to $10.00 range with lunch specials that rarely top $6.00. They even serve Breakfast. You can enjoy appetizer offerings like Hummos, crushed Chic Peas blended with fresh Garlic and Lemon juice. Fattouch, a mixture of Romaine, Cucumbers, Onions, Sumac, Watercress, Lemon Juice and Olive Oil over lightly toasted Pita Bread. Entrees include a Shawarma Dinner, select tender Beef, Lamb and Steak slices marinated then seasoned and roasted on a vertical grill, sliced off and served on pita bread. Another entree is Ponte Vicco, basil pesto crusted veal chops. Even his stuffed grape leaves have a personal twist with his seasoned meat, vegetables and rice mixture. The Pizza’s are to die for. HIs fresh pizza dough is made daily and hand tossed. All ingredients used are prepared fresh daily and are gourmet quality. Come try his Piemontes for a change of pace. This is another one of Nasi’s creations. White pizza with roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, diced tomatoes and black olives. Try his D’Magio, this is a white pizza with sauteed broccoli rabi and portabella mushrooms in olive oil and white wine. Another one of his favorites is called the Mediterranean Breeze. This is a pizza made with extra virgin olive oil, fresh garlic spread, roasted chicken and fresh basil, delicious! He also has Calzones and Bolis for your enjoyment. Chef Nasi can cater for any occasion, large or small. They also offer Take Out. Nasi invites,”Come taste a true Mediterranean Experience, you will be happy you did!“ They are located at 174 North Beach Street at the north end of Historical Beach Street, in Daytona Beach(mainland). he Dictionary definition of Barracuda’s is (ber-ə-”kü-dəz) as an elongated, predaceous, often large bony fish of warm seas. We describe it

as fun, fun, fun. Barracuda’s Bar & Grill is New Smyrna Beaches newest hot spot featuring great food, a great view, live music, full bar and of course, good times! Owners Chad Schilsky, Vincenzo and Pietro Capuano have done it again, bringing together a collaboration of their talents. If their names sound familiar, it is because they were also the ones that brought the ever popular That’s Amore’ restaurant to New Smyrna Beach. The night life is hot with an open deck that has a fire pit, tables and sofa benches that provides that perfect spot for conversation, dining and dancing overlooking the ocean. If you prefer a covered area, they also have a patio with fans and tiki torches and plenty of comfortable seating. There is a spacious, trendy inside, air conditioned dining room where the main bar is located. It features plenty of tables and comfortable booths with large, flat screen TV”s for viewing your favorite sporting events. Music plays throughout the day and into the night. Being just a few steps from the ocean, the preferred attire is bathing suites and casual beach wear. The food is nothing less than fantastic with a very wide menu featuring a diverse combination of items to choose from, all delicious. There are Barracuda

They have Fried Calamari that is quick fried in a delicate batter and served with their homemade Marinara for your dipping pleasure. They have a fabulous Jumbo Maryland style Crab Cake, one premium jumbo crab cake that is hand pressed and then pan seared to a golden brown, then served with a spicy, homemade citrus aioli sauce. Then there are the Barracuda Big Bites. these are huge, delicious dinner entrees like their Tropical Fish Tacos. Two flour tortillas layered with fresh grilled Mahi Mahi, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, onions, shredded carrots, sweet corn, then topped with a key lime dressing, simply delightful! They have a Spanish dish they call Peninsular Paella, this is their tropical version of the spanish classic. It consists of shrimp, clams, mussels, grilled chicken, chorizo sausage, sweet peas, and corn served over over kokomo’s yellow rice with their own tropical twist. The Barracuda Burger is a classic in the making, sure to be a favorite. It is a half pound of premium ground beef, grilled to your liking and topped with savory chorizo sausage served on a kaiser roll with cheese, lettuce, onion and tomato. Delicious! They even have a Little Cuda’s menu with all the favorites your kids will love. This is just a sampling of all they offer, you just have to go there and try it for yourself, it is delightful! billy’stap room & grill

CheF doug rand

ou have to be a pretty good Chef to take over a landmark restaurant like Billy’s Tap Room & Grill. That is just how Executive Chef Doug Rand

and his wife Lillian felt about acquiring Billy’s. They knew Doug would be up to the task of tweaking and upgrading the legendary menu without disturbing the loyal patrons of Billy’s. Chef Doug has accomplished this and more. Generations of the dining public have entered Billy’s Tap Room & Grill expecting only the best, and leaving happy, content and satisfied. Chef Doug, continues to fulfill those expectations. Originally from Weymouth, Massachusetts, He graduated High School in Meriden, Connecticut and started working in his Uncles seafood restaurant in Cape Cod at age 15. That is where his passion for cooking began. There he learned how to prepare everything from great seafood to pizza. His Uncles restaurant had a little of everything, but mostly great seafood. As a young man working his way through college, he worked the fishing boats at Cape Cod in the small fishing village of Wellfleet, Massachusetts. Working these these boats was also a learning experience. It was hard work, but gave him the ability to select top quality seafood, thus furthering his love of seafood. After he graduated collage, He decided to attended the Dunkin Donut University in Braintree, Massachusetts. This prompted him to purchase his first restaurant in 1981, a Mr. Donut franchise in Deland, Florida. The Mr. Donut later became Dunkin Donuts. By 1996, He decided to sell his restaurant and go to work selling memberships to the NFIB - National Federation of Independent Business. This was rewarding, but he still longed to have his own restaurant again. In 1998 He opened The Potato Patch, a breakfast and lunch diner in Deland, Florida. Doug and Lil still own and operate the very popular restaurant. Doug had been looking quite a while for a restaurant that He could open for dinner service, something upscale. Doug had almost given up, when His Brother, a realtor, told him of an opportunity, a landmark restaurant in Ormond Beach was being sold. After meeting with the selling realtor, Doug and Lillian, felt they had found

what Doug was looking for, Billy’s Tap Room & Grill. So, after purchasing Billy’s and giving it a fresh look with a major restoration, It was time reopen Billy’s Tap Room & Grill. May 25th, 2011 marks the day that Doug and Lillian opened the doors of this iconic, landmark restaurant with great success attracting new customers as well as pleasing the old ones. The Rotary Club still meets there every Wednesday for lunch, just as it has for 25 over years. As one would expect, Chef Doug’s favorite genre of food to prepare, is Seafood. The balance of flavor that he has a talent for, is to bring out the flavors of his seafood, without loosing the natural flavor. he doesn’t believe in burying it in heavy cream sauces or other concoctions. Simple seasonings do more for the flavor of seafood than anything else, Doug informed me. He also loves the diversity that can be created with seafood. His legendary Crab Cakes are just one example, no fillers, bleaches, or sodium, just 100 % Natural Crab. This is a delight ! They feature Live Main Lobster and Prime Rib daily. The steaks are legendary as well. They only use Harris Ranch Beef, with each steak being hand carved and hand selected. You will always have your steak cooked to your desired temperature, seasoned to perfection. Satisfaction and quality is what you get at Billy’s, Chef Doug and his staff make sure of that. Doug has surrounded himself with what he believes are three of the best key people in the business, Matt Baldridge, Shawn Beers and Tara Zaragoza. His support staff make for a smooth running operation, all well seasoned veterans of the industry. It takes good people to make a great restaurant. Doug also believes in supporting the community. He shops for his produce and seafood at local markets and seafood vendors. He always hand selects each ingredient and uses these local vendors as much as possible. Future goals for Billy’s, is to bring more seasonal items to the already fantastic menu. Doug is always looking for ways to bring the dining public the best dining experience possible. Catering is also available at Billy’s large Banquet rooms. They have catering for every occasion, large or small. Make your next night out, one to remember. Dine with Chef Doug at the landmark restaurant, Billy’s Tap Room. They are located at 58 East Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach, Fl. Call for more information or reservations at 386-672-1910 or visit them online at www.BillysTapRoomOrmondBeach.com They are open for dinner Tuesday thru Sunday. They are closed on Mondays.

She is originally from Livingston, New Jersey. At age 2, she moved to Florida with her Mom. Danielle attended Seabreeze High School and Bethune Cookman College. While working her way though college, she was a hostess at a local popular restaurant in Daytona. With no formal training as a bartender, she was trained from the bartenders there. She caught on quickly and became one of the favorite bartenders there. Six years ago, she joined the crew at McK’s Tavern. When Scott and Dave opened Windy City Bar & Grill, she was their first choice for being their Bartender. Danielle invites you to come to Windy City’s new Sunday Brunch and enjoy a delicious brunch where she will serve you her fantastic homemade $3.00 Bloody Mary’s or Bottomless Mimosas. She has developed her own Martini list that has over 15 Martini’s. One of Danielle’s signature Martini’s is her Fruit Loop Martini. Here is how you can try one at home. Plantation Bar & Grill3754 Roscommon Drive, Ormond Beach, FL386.615.8948

Owners Chip and Rene’e DeAngelis have created a very diverse and beautiful restaurant. Eclectic would best describe it. The restaurant is comprised of four separate dining rooms and a full service bar. The main dining room and bar are combined. The other three dining rooms are separate and strikingly different. Each has its own theme, like the Loop Room, the Verona Room and the Bistro. The three rooms are very unique, fun and exciting. An excellent place for sharing food and conversations. The menu that was created is equally diverse. Chip has employed a culinary team to create everything on the menu from fantastic Angus Hamburgers to Thai Curry Sea Bass, Hand Cut Steaks, Pork Osso Bucco and much, much more. This is a restaurant that you could come to everyday of the week and be pleased with the vast array of items and prices that are available to you. You can feel comfortable in shorts and sandals, sitting at the bar for a burger and fries after a round of golf, or dress up for the most intimate, romantic dinner possible. The daily specials are fantastic and a value, especially considering that you have a world class culinary staff preparing your meal. The culinary team puts the same attention and flair into a burger as they do the Shrimp and Andouille Ravants, or anything else on the menu. The flavors they bring out in their food goes beyond description. All prepared with simple herbs and spices. Many of these grown right behind the restaurant. Every item and ingredient used is of the highest calibre and quality. The Plantation Bar & Grill is a restaurant geared to be enjoyed everyday with its value priced menu, not just for that special occasion. Come explore the fantastic flavors and delightful food at The Plantation Bar & Grill. They are located at 3754 Roscommon Drive, Ormond Beach, Florida 32174. Phone for more information at 386.615.8948 or visit them on the web at www.PlantationBarAndGrill.com
