Vol-3(2017) CORNUCOPIA ALOK PUBLIC SCHOOL NEWSLETTER September–October 2018 ________________________________________________________________________________________ DIARY OF EVENTS: Following Examinations were conducted towards the end of September. § Half Yearly Examinations for Classes VI to VIII and XI & XII § Periodic Test-2 for Classes IX and X § Unit Test-2 for Classes I to V A Step Towards Clean India: Recognising the vital role of the schools in spreading the swachhta awareness and implementation across the country, CBSE directed all schools to observe the Swachhta Pakhwada from September 1 to 15 , 2017. A clean India would be the best tribute India could pay to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150 th birth anniversary in 2019. Under this directive , Alok Public School, Silvassa , Dadra & Nagar Haveli enthusiastically organised various activities and competitions. Keeping this mission in mind, during this fortnight to celebrate Swachhta Pakhwada , all the students of the school were engaged in different activities like speeches, art & craft, painting, slogan writing, essay writing, Hindi Debate and rally for the realisation of the programme. Special sessions were arranged for them in the morning assembly everyday. Each class of the school had got to conduct the special assembly everyday from 1 st to 15th September and presented different things that showcase the importance of cleanliness (Swachhata) in our day to day life. The teachers were directed to enlighten the students in their classes about the importance of cleanliness of the surroundings. On the concluding day, the students conveyed the idea of cleanliness with great zeal and said that it should not only remain on paper and in photographs but should be made a reality. In the end the students took a pledge to maintain cleanliness and spread this message around. Teachers’ Day celebration for class VI to XII on 5 th September § The Principal, Vice Principal and teachers paid a floral tribute to the great teacher of our nation, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. § First one hour was observed for student teachers. Interested students of senior section assumed the role of teachers and taught lessons in junior classes. § The students from all classes rocked the stage with their thrilling performances to entertain the teachers. Ganeshotsav-2018 Our school celebrated ‘Ganeshotsav-2018’ with the grand cultural manifestation in Alok City. The selected students from the colony and the teachers devoted their arts and skills to the Elephant Headed God, Ganesha in the form of dances, drama and singing The event was pleasantly anchored by our students Khushi Singh from class X and and Pranav Sharma from class IX.

2nd October was observed as Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shashtri Jayanti in the school. The Vice-Principal and all teachers paid a floral tribute to the ‘Father of the nation’ and the ‘former Prime Minister of India’. A Special morning assembly was conducted where the students spoke about these great leaders and recalled their contribution to Indian freedom struggle.

Our students visited Silvassa Book Festival

2018 in groups, organized by the dept. of Tourism, Dadra and Nagar Haveli

With an aim to spread joy and happiness,

Navaratri was celebrated with vigour in the school on 13th Oct. The students from all classes rejoiced for two hours whole heartedly playing Garba in Gujarati traditional attire. Teachers too dressed up accordingly and danced to the beats of rhythmic Garba songs. A strong bond and coordination was observed among all students tapping their toes with rejoicing music.
