Vol-3(2017) CORNUCOPIA ALOK PUBLIC SCHOOL NEWSLETTER April – June 2017 ________________________________________________________________________________________ Principal’s Desk Dear Readers, Rain God’s showers of blessings have brought respite to the sultry heat. Every season arrives with its challenges. Children and adults should refrain from eating out during the monsoons to keep unwelcome health problems at bay. Talking of school, our board results have been commendable. Most of the Class XII (1st Batch) pass-outs are in the process of settling down in good professional courses. 6 students have qualified for NEET. Thanks to Gopinath Classes for taking good care of our senior secondary (Science) students. Almost a third of Class X brought 10 CGPA. I congratulate all parents for the success of their wards. Loopholes and drawbacks are being scrutinised and taken care of. As per changes brought about by CBSE, we have started Work Education classes, the details of which will be in one of these pages. HODs conducted faculty meeting to plan and discuss subjective matters. House meetings with house wardens to plan and introduce Inter House activities and competitions. Graduation ceremony of UKG students was conducted on 04/04/2017. The children were awarded certificates. Our students joined the public rally along with tens of thousands of other students held at Lions English School on the occasion of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic visit to Silvassa on 17/04/2017. Following Inter house competitions were conducted during the period. Paint for Fun (Activity) Collage making GK Quiz –Class VI to X Solo Song – Class VI to X Creative Writing - Class VI to XI Our school has recently started Work Education classes twice in a month for all students to encourage their skill development in various areas of work and for their overall development. The curriculum for Work Education is as follows. Talking of school, our board results have been commendable. Most of the Class XII (1st Batch) pass-outs are in the process of settling down in good professional courses. 6 students have qualified for NEET. E Cube, a specialised Teachers’ Training Programme on techniques of Story Telling and Rhymes was conducted for primary teachers by Shrimad Rajchandra Mission, Dharampur. Resource Persons: Ms Manisha Ms Dimple

The students of class VIII arranged a small exhibition in Bio lab showing different models, under the guidance of their science teacher Mrs Reema Tarafdar.

Three Group Dance forms and six Solo Dance forms were presented by our students under the guidance of Mr Saroj Naik (Dance Teacher) at Yatri Nivas, Silvassa on the eve of Lord Jagannathji Rath yatra on 17/06/2017. The Performers and the teacher were honoured with appreciation prizes by the association.

Parents- Doctors meeting was held in school for the awareness of importance of Measles and Rubella Vaccine for children up to the age of 15. These diseases, like polio, need to be eradicated from the world.

Achievements: The third batch of Class X (27 students)

emerged with remarkable victory. • The school has attained 100 % result for

the third time consecutively.

• Almost one third of the students secured 10 CGPA.

Our first batch of Class XII (51 students) also shone with great success. 10 students have secured more than 80% marks. (Browse further to see the photographs of achievers)

Three of our students have made us proud by securing top positions at zonal level in NCO(National Cyber Olympiads). They have been awarded with Cash Prize or Book Set worth Rs 1000/- , Medal and a Merit Certificate.

Our School Principal, Ms Sharmistha Sen has been conferred with the award of ‘Best District Principal’ by SOF (Science Olympiad Foundation) for the second time in Dadra and Nagar Haveli district for the year 2016-17. She has been awarded with a Trophy and a Cash Prize.

Khushi Singh from class X has won the Championship title in U-17 South Gujarat Open Badminton Tournament organized by Badminton Association of Dadra & Nagar Haveli on 23rd April, 2017.
